Kenta spread the magazine in his hands and slapped it down on the glass counter, looking a little disappointed.
"Sega went way overboard with the secrecy this time." Kenta opened the magazine and pointed at a full-color spread. "The newsstands sold out as soon as the magazine hit the shelves yesterday. Sega invited the Famitsu editors to headquarters and let them play all day before releasing these actual gameplay screenshots."
The other two high school students immediately leaned closer.
The magazine had devoted ten full pages to an exclusive preview of the GP2 launch lineup.
"You get a free cartridge with the console." Kenta tapped the Tetris feature on the first page. "And it supports four-player multiplayer. Sega even made a link cable with four connectors."
"Four people playing Tetris together?" The student wearing glasses adjusted his frames. "Won't the screen get too crowded?"
"Look at this screenshot." Kenta pointed at a photo of the game running near the bottom of the page. "The screen's divided into four sections. The blocks you clear turn straight into garbage rows you can throw onto your opponents' screens. Before, it was two people messing with each other. Now you can gang up three against one or have a free-for-all. Bring this to school and everyone will be fighting over it during breaks."
The bespectacled student studied the photo for a while, then nodded. "A free game with the console. Sega's being just as generous as when the Game
Pocket launched."
Kenta turned to the next page.
A brightly colored gameplay screenshot filled the spread.
On the left stood a row of smiling sunflowers; on the right were several zombies wearing traffic cones and metal buckets.
The art was comical, with a streak of dark humor.
