Hermione opened her mouth, but before she could answer, Harry had already rattled off the information he had just learned. "...Snape. He betrayed Vaughn and Dumbledore's trust. I heard it with my own ears—it was him. He tricked Vaughn, Dumbledore, and Professor McGonagall into going to the Ministry of Magic, creating an opportunity for Quirrell to steal the Philosopher's Stone."
Ron chimed in from the side. "Hmph, I always said that old bat wasn't a good person. You lot didn't believe me a few months ago. Now you know, right?"
"All right, Ron. There's no point saying that now."
Harry rubbed his forehead. For some reason, his scar had begun to hurt again. He suppressed the discomfort and looked at Hermione. "Quirrell will probably make his move soon. What should we do now?"
He hoped their smartest friend could come up with an idea.
But Hermione seemed not to have heard him. She stood there in a daze.
"Hermione?"
"Oh..." Hermione finally reacted, showing that she had been listening. After thinking for a moment, she asked, "Are you sure Snape threatened Quirrell?"
"Of course. I heard it with my own ears. Is there a problem?"
"...No. I was just thinking—Firenze told us before that Quirrell is You-Know-Who. Why would Snape still dare threaten him?"
"What's so strange about that?" Ron said carelessly. "Prophecies are usually dressed up in all sorts of mysterious, vague nonsense. Firenze also said You-Know-Who is in terrible shape right now. Maybe Quirrell got hold of some Dark magic object containing a fragment of his soul, so the prophecy sees them as one."
He made a lot of sense. Of the three of them, he was also the only one born into the wizarding world, and knew the most about all kinds of magical legends and tales.
