Ron, who had seen the same scene when he turned around, looked over as well.
"Was that Fawkes just now?"
"Does Hogwarts have another phoenix?" Harry countered as he stared once more in the direction where Fawkes had landed.
Over there was only the pavilion where Vaughn liked to think.
"It was carrying a letter. It should be from Dumbledore to Vaughn." He hesitated, then suggested, "Should we go take a look?"
He had not seen Dumbledore for quite some time and rather missed that crazy old man.
Of course, more importantly, a great many things had happened at the castle these past few days—the Hogwarts Board of Governors, Snape's problems... Never before had Harry so desperately wished to wake up one day and find Dumbledore standing before him with a smile.
Though the old man's madness could sometimes be unbearable, as long as he was around, there was a sense of security.
Ron was not too willing. He was afraid Vaughn would mock him for painstakingly saving up a year's worth of pocket money and giving it to Percy, only for Percy to toss it to the twins so he could spend time with his girlfriend. Just like that, it had all gone down the drain.
Forget someone as nasty as Vaughn—Ron himself thought he was an idiot.
An idiot for actually trusting his brothers!
Other than Bill and Charlie, which of the Weasleys above him was a good person?
But—
Seeing Harry staring into the distance in a daze, Ron curled his lip and got to his feet. "Fine—I'll, I'll consider it a return gift for you."
His ears reddened, and he felt like he was taking advantage of Harry's weakness.
Harry said helplessly, "—I've told you, I don't want your gift. You know I don't lack money.
