Nearly every god in the world watched as he descended with a miracle, waiting for an answer. And when that god failed, they all found their answer. Perhaps only someone with such a disposition could become an apostle awakened under the three supreme rules!
When Tang Woods saw the old watchman and sensed the affinity for the rule of time emanating from him, these thoughts came back to him.
Upon entering the clock tower, he saw little besides a spiraling staircase winding upward. Every full turn of the stairs had four narrow windows. Though they lacked exquisite glass, their design suited the building's overall layout well.
He began climbing the stairs. The steps and circular walls were almost completely dust-free. While that was largely because few people ever came here, it also showed the old watchman's diligence and meticulousness.
In less than a few minutes, he reached the very top. Like below, there were four windows here, but there was also an extra platform.
He stood before one of the windows, gazing into the distance as if observing something. Suddenly, his eyes froze, and a faint smile appeared on his lips. Sure enough, it seemed his guess had not been wrong.
Following his gaze, he saw a two-story building somewhere in the Xima District. Looking more closely, it was the very one he lived in.
He could almost sense that, on that night, a mysterious person had once stood here, silently watching Tang Woods's residence. The person's emotions seemed to carry disdain, helplessness, and cold indifference.
Only after a flash of light and fire flickered before that two-story building did he raise his hand to look at the mechanical watch on his wrist, as though confirming the time. Then, a trace of cruelty appeared on his face before he left.
