The Mysterious Person (Continued)

Under normal circumstances, Naruto would never have acted like this.

Perhaps because Naruto was so simple-minded, every emotion showed plainly on his face. It was far too obvious.

So Sakura and Neji immediately noticed that something was wrong with Naruto.

Sakura carefully asked, "Naruto, what's wrong? Did you find something? Why are you so unhappy?"

Naruto did not answer directly. Instead, he let out an inexplicable sigh.

That reaction left both Sakura and Neji astonished.

What was going on? Had they seen a ghost? This was the first time they had ever seen Naruto like this.

Then Naruto inexplicably said, "I can feel it... something extremely unpleasant."

Sakura and Neji were both completely baffled. What did he mean by something extremely unpleasant?

Before they could ask, Naruto continued, "It feels like I've experienced something here before."

"Those people should all be pitiful, but why are they looking at us like that?"

Clearly, Naruto had completely missed the point.

It seemed that his mind was still stuck on the very first scene.

Neji and Sakura had no idea what Naruto had gone through in the past.

But at that moment, they seemed to sense a feeling of desolation from him.

So they did not blame Naruto for anything. After all, being emotionally affected during a mission was actually very dangerous.

Yet for some reason, neither of them said anything. They only felt that Naruto was especially pitiful right now, that what he needed most was peace and encouragement rather than constant reminders.

So Sakura immediately said, "It's okay, Naruto. At worst, we can give up on this mission."

"Besides, we've already failed plenty of missions. One more won't make a difference."

Neji Hyuga said, "That's right. No matter what happened in the past, you still have us, don't you?"
