They were so-called holy lands in every sense of the word.
Yet in reality, they had never understood why they truly needed to be so proud, why they had to look upon the mundane ninja world with the detached gaze of enlightened recluses.
Mount Myōboku was a sacred land of cultivation. Practicing senjutsu here could yield twice the results with half the effort.
But what did a race desire most? Naturally, it was for their people to prosper forever.
Not to remain secluded in this corner for all eternity.
This was not something they could decide. The rule had been firmly established when the Great Toad Sage founded Mount Myōboku as a sacred land.
As later generations, they naturally had to abide by it. The younger ones might think that the Great Toad Sage was free of worldly desires and did not wish to see the suffering caused by a race's expansion.
They could explain it that way, but Ryūchi Cave, one of the Three Great Sage Lands as well—
That sacred land was no easygoing group.
What they loved most was devouring living humans.
Mount Myōboku had naturally heard of their many vile deeds.
Yet even that savage race had chosen, like them, to isolate themselves from the mortal world. Each time they devoured a living human, it had to be someone offered up by a person who had signed a contract with them.
That simply did not fit the nature of such a race
