"Who are you?"
A green gemstone ring on his ring finger, the nearly sixty-year-old viscount walked toward the gate under the escort of three knights and the old butler. Behind him, a group of servants pointed, whispered, and peered over.
"Goat troubled by worries, today is December first, Thanksgiving. Use your compassionate heart to do some good deeds. For instance, let these starving little deer have a hot meal and receive a little warmth. I believe your worries will lessen, and others will follow your kindness, reaping the same goodwill."
Standing on the steps, Green displayed no power. With only his words and bearing, he looked down upon the multitude with an air of compassion for all living things.
The knights had long been stunned by Green's charlatan-like appearance, and even the viscount was taken aback.
It was clear this viscount was not some utterly wicked man, merely a shrewd merchant muddling through life.
"Where did this mud-legged peasant come from? He's the one who disturbed the master? Hurry up and throw him out!"
Behind the viscount, the old butler wore a vicious, impatient expression. He waved his arm, signaling the knights to drive Green from the platform. At once, the beggars following behind Green took a step back, looking so timid that they seemed ready to turn tail and run at any moment.
"Wait!"
The viscount, who possessed the somewhat bloated bearing of a wealthy old man, fixed his eyes on Green.
"Troubled by worries? You know my worries?"
"I saw a little lamb. It seemed his days were numbered, unless a true wizard could use life sorcery to offer him some support and help him survive this harsh winter. Once spring came and all things revived in vigorous growth, his life could continue as well."
