The value of water lay not only in nurturing life and nourishing the vitality of all things. More importantly, in this world ruled by the terrors beneath the endless yellow sands, it was the only thing that made the horrors under the grains retreat from those frail, tiny, humble humans.

Four mechanical devices over ten meters long floated across the desert like sailing ships. Yet constrained by mechanical power and other factors, they could only hover about a meter above the ground, moving relatively slowly.

Although this world's magic-crystal technology had advanced considerably, the Desert Boats still made tremendous noise as they traveled, inevitably becoming targets for the sandworms beneath the grains. Yet these Desert Boats had their necessary purpose: carrying essential luxuries and intelligence between the royal families, nobles, and wealthy merchants of different oasis kingdoms, exchanging what each lacked for what the other possessed.

At the bow of the Desert Boat, a Sha Fu wrapped in white cloth suddenly shouted toward the cockpit. As the people of the oasis with the sharpest eyesight, every Sha Fu was a guarantee that a Desert Boat could safely reach its destination.

With a deep horn blast, the lead Desert Boat stopped, and the three following boats quickly halted as well. Panic-stricken crewmen rushed to the high-pressure water cannons. Cold sweat streamed down their pale faces,
