"Let's build a little house, right here."
After the Desert Ark merchant convoy gradually departed and vanished into the depths of the oasis, Milly pointed at a patch of dry, hardened ground not far away.
Dressed like a native of Stormworld, Green was wrapped head to toe in white gauze, with only his eyes exposed. He drew his reverse-bladed knife and tested one of the thorny grasses scattered all around. It rang out with a clang. The vegetation was remarkably hard; the desert's harsh, arid conditions had endowed these plants with tenacious vitality.
"Here?"
Green asked in return, puzzled. "Why not go inside the city walls? The living conditions here are far too harsh for our current level of life."
But Milly said, "We can build a house here, look for water, look for food, do everything we can to survive. With our limited life force and the most basic knowledge of wizards, we can start from nothing, learn how lowly creatures survive, and experience the meaning of lowly creatures' existence."
Green glanced at the surrounding thorny shrubs. Given their hardness, if they could be chopped down one by one, they would make excellent material for a wooden house. But those shrubs were so tough that it would be an arduous task.
After thinking for a moment, Green said, "Ahead is the oasis, and all around it is desert. Its temperature is higher than that of the desert, so it forms a high-pressure zone around Isulman. Cold winds carrying moisture spread outward, while dry, high-temperature air currents replenish this area from above, forming a thermal cycle. With the limited laws we can leverage on the basis of our current strength..."
Adopting a thoughtful expression, Green continued, "At dawn, when the temperature is lowest, we can face the cold, moist air
