The tip of the Strange Weapon emerged a little farther from Lu Daxin's left hand. The space, already cracked by its thrust, rippled again, and the cracks widened. A few wisps of gray-black "smoke" drifted from the spot where the weapon's tip had pierced the space.
"Careful! Don't touch that thing!" Sixth Senior Brother and Zhang Xiaofan warned at the same time.
"That's the aura of the Underworld!" Zhang Xiaofan hurriedly explained.
The gray-black "smoke" did not drift toward them. Instead, it sank straight into the ground.
A bad feeling immediately welled up in everyone's hearts.
Daoxuan and Tian Buyi watched the patch of ground touched by the "smoke" with rapt attention. After a few breaths, a gray speck of light floated up from it.
"What is that?" Even Daoxuan True Person, who had seen and heard much, had no idea what the gray speck of light was.
"It gives me a really bad feeling!"
The night grew darker, and dark clouds veiled the moon. The only light around them came from the gray specks that kept rising from the ground, each giving off a faint, sinister glow.
Before they could investigate further, the first few gray specks slowly took shape.
"Are those Yin Spirits?" Tian Buyi narrowed his eyes as he tried to make them out.
"Yin Spirits glow green!" Sixth Senior Brother ruled out the possibility.
"Could they be things from the Underworld? Or things corrupted and transformed by the Underworld's aura?" Daoxuan speculated.
There was no way to guess. Zhang Xiaofan raised a hand and sent a Taiji Seal containing a trace of strange energy flying at one of them. It struck the thing, which had already taken human form, and made it stumble back two steps. Then it shuffled its legs and staggered toward Zhang Xiaofan.
