The New Student Assessment

Huo Yuhao slept until the next morning. After getting up, he changed back into his uniform and headed toward the classroom.

As soon as he entered, he saw everyone's eyes turn toward him.

"Hey, what were you doing on leave for so long? The real question is, how did Teacher Zhou actually approve it? A lot of people are saying you got into Shrek Academy through connections," a classmate sitting near the front asked curiously.

"Oh, that? I took leave to obtain my third Soul Ring, so Teacher Zhou approved it."

As he spoke, three Soul Rings appeared around Huo Yuhao. The students in Class One stared in shock at the pitch-black third ring.

"Brother Huo, I might've been disrespectful just now. From now on, you're the boss of our class." The classmate at the front immediately tried to cozy up to Huo Yuhao.

"I'm not interested in that," Huo Yuhao replied coolly, then sat back down and resumed cultivating.

Not long afterward, Zhou Yi came in, and Class One began its first lesson of the day.

Near the end of the morning, Wang Dong came over to find Huo Yuhao.

"Huo Yuhao, can you tell me how you managed to absorb a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring as your third Soul Ring?"

Like Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong had a thousand-year second ring and desperately wanted to know how to get a ten-thousand-year third ring.

"It's because of my Martial Soul. I have a Body Martial Soul, so I'm a special case. You can't learn from me," Huo Yuhao replied evenly.

When he learned that Wang Dong no longer lived in the dormitory, Huo Yuhao felt quite pleased. The more distance between them, the more their relationship would fade, and the farther he'd be from God King Tang's schemes.

"Fine, I understand." Wang Dong sensed that Huo Yuhao didn't really want to talk to her, so she said nothing more.

"Is he really that petty? He's still holding on to what happened at the start of the school year," Wang Dong muttered indignantly.

She didn't even live in the dormitory anymore, yet Huo Yuhao still hadn't asked why. He also barely responded whenever she asked him questions.

Of course, Huo Yuhao treated everyone the same in that regard. Aside from Bei Bei and Tang Ya, Wang Dong had never seen him talk with anyone else.

Even when he showed off his strength that morning, he'd acted as if he couldn't be bothered with the trouble.

She'd wanted to be friends with Huo Yuhao, but he always acted like he wanted nothing to do with anyone, leaving her no chance to get closer.

Time flew by, and the new student assessment was almost here. A few days earlier, Huo Yuhao had advanced another level, reaching Soul Power level 36.

After returning from the Far North, Huo Yuhao's Soul Power had been just over level 35. Normally, it wouldn't have taken this long.

But levels 30 through 70 were a slow cultivation period for Ultimate Martial Souls. Even though Huo Yuhao had Innate Full Soul Power, he'd advanced only half a level in a month.

With one day left until the new student assessment, Zhou Yi began explaining the rules and things to keep in mind.

"The new student assessment will be held in teams of three. Since it's a test of the basics of being a Soul Master, Soul Tools aren't allowed. Got it?"

"Got it," the students replied.

"Write down the direction you plan to pursue in the future and hand it to Wang Dong." Zhou Yi looked toward Wang Dong as she spoke.

"Wang Dong, collect them and bring them to my office later."

"Yes," Wang Dong replied.

With Huo Yuhao absent, Wang Dong was the student with the highest Soul Power in class and had been chosen as class monitor. Naturally, these odd jobs fell to her too.

"Now we'll form the teams. If you have a problem, come see me after class. Don't wait until I've submitted the teams to tell me this doesn't work or that doesn't suit you."

After going over the reminders once more, Zhou Yi began reading out the teams she had assigned.

"Team One: Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong, Xiao Xiao."

"Team Two: ..."

After Zhou Yi had read out the twenty-odd teams, Huo Yuhao casually wrote "Control System" on a slip of paper and handed it to Wang Dong. Then he began looking forward to the day he'd face Dai Huabin.

Huo Yuhao would never forgive a beast like Dai Huabin. Unfortunately, the competition format dragged on far too long.

After hearing the team assignments, most of the students accepted them and left.

Xiao Xiao came over and whispered to Wang Dong, "Since the three of us are on the same team, why don't we introduce ourselves?"

Wang Dong was a little tempted. This was, after all, a perfect chance to make friends.

"You two can get to know each other. I have my own plans for this assessment, but our team will definitely get the best results. I'll leave it at that."

After saying this, Huo Yuhao ignored Xiao Xiao's attempts to keep him there and went back to cultivating.

There was no way to have a proper conversation like this. What if Wang Dong became close with him and decided to leave the hotel in Shrek City and move back into the dormitory?

Watching Huo Yuhao leave, Wang Dong silently added another mark against him. They were on the same team now, and he was still so cold.

Back in the dormitory, Huo Yuhao had plenty to think about.

He planned to reveal his Ultimate Ice in tomorrow's match. That meant Ma Xiaotao's trouble would soon come knocking.

With his current level-35 Ultimate Ice, along with Simulation and Spirit Shock, the outcome of a real fight would be hard to predict, but he could definitely escape unscathed.

Next, it was time to negotiate terms with Yan Shaozhe.

That afternoon, after class, Zhou Yi called Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao to her office.

Huo Yuhao knew it was probably because they'd filled in the wrong systems, so he didn't plan to concern himself with it and went on with his own business.

On the day of the new student assessment, Huo Yuhao arrived at the arena early.

As more and more new students entered, the noise gradually grew louder.

Huo Yuhao was about to face their first-round opponents.

The teams introduced themselves.

"Xiao Xiao, level 22 Control System Battle Soul Master."

"Wang Dong, level 24 Power Attack System Battle Soul Master."

Ouyang Junyi, level 18 Power Attack System Battle Soul Master.

Chen Junfeng, level 18 Power Attack System Battle Soul Master.

Zhao Haochen, level 16 Food System Battle Soul Master.

The instant the referee announced the start of the match, Huo Yuhao didn't hesitate. He released his Ice Jade Empress Scorpion Martial Soul and dashed toward the three opponents at incredible speed, freezing all of them in place.

At that moment, Ouyang Junyi and Chen Junfeng had been about to eat a chicken leg made by their teammate to boost their attributes. Instead, Huo Yuhao froze them into ice sculptures.

The match ended in an instant. Huo Yuhao called to Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao, who were still dazed, and left the arena with them.
