After doing all that, he took a deep breath, composed his expression, and reappeared outside Startled Shichen's cave residence as though nothing had happened.
Startled Shichen was taken aback to see the Demon God of Deception return. "Weren't you going to kick a dog? Why are you back?"
The Demon God of Deception's gaze darted away. He did not dare meet Startled Shichen's eyes.
He stood there, his lips moving, but no words came out.
Only after a long while did he draw a deep breath. As though he had made up his mind, he raised his head and said solemnly:
"I just came back to tell you my name is Star. Star, as in all the stars filling the sky. Remember it. My name is Star."
He paused, then added:
"And take a good look at my face. Don't get it wrong later!"
Before Startled Shichen could react, he vanished in a flash.
The whole performance left Startled Shichen bewildered. He stood frozen for a long while before coming to his senses.
A moment later, he shook his head with a helpless smile. "What an interesting person... He really did surprise me..."
He sat back down on his Prayer Mat, a trace of amusement in his eyes. "Still, I'll remember the name Star."
