"Such a shame!"
"They ran away!"
Watching most of the hive fleet flee toward Ultramar World, Tris felt deeply regretful.
What a waste.
Those excellent raw materials could have become Gamma World's new armor.
Now they had escaped, and Gamma World's bio-armor could no longer be mass-produced.
If the Tyranids truly fought them to the death, the final outcome would still be unknown. Gamma World had yet to fully manufacture the Colossus weapon, Neutron Sweep. With Neutron Sweep, those fleets could all be destroyed in an instant.
Attacking with energy weapons would only cause those hive fleets to evolve corresponding resistance.
With the First Army's current strength and scale, it was still difficult to eliminate a tendril fleet with more than thirty Titan-class ships. They were still too weak. If they had a Gamma expeditionary force of over thirty fleets, or thirty-six armies, dealing with these bugs would be as easy as taking something from a bag.
"They've left."
"The hive fleets detected behind them have all left as well. What a pity."
"We should have lured them onto this planet first, then destroyed their motherships."
"..."
The Tyranids' departure left many researchers regretful. But for Gamma World's First Army, this had been a "hard-fought" victory. The bugs had nearly driven them back into the city zones protected by energy shields. Half of the planet's thirty-six nodes had been captured by the bugs. They were different from those scientists.
Their goal was to protect this territory. As long as they hunted down some of them, made the bugs suffer, and taught them that attacking from this direction was not worth the cost, it counted as victory.
It was obvious that these bugs would return sooner or later.
Did the things on their bodies truly have research value for Gamma World?
