"Great, I'm finally free."
"Is this what the universe looks like now?"
"Can I go take a look over there?"
"This planet looks nice. I want to taste it."
"Commander, where are we going?"
From the region humanity had sealed off using Webway technology, they had obtained an entirely new form of nanotechnology.
The danger of this technology had been a key factor in the fall of humanity's Golden Age. Vast numbers of nanobots, along with a machine rebellion, had forced humanity to use the Webway to seal them away completely.
Though they had sealed away those rebellious machines, humanity had already declined beyond recovery.
In a sense, pure-blooded humans had long since become history.
At present, those closest to pure-blooded humanity were likely the few Perpetuals from the past, along with Cisrain.
The betrayal of these technologies left behind from the Golden Age had not actually had much to do with Chaos.
Rather, humanity's excessive alteration of its own genes had caused these artificial intelligences and advanced robotic technologies to gradually stop recognizing the modified humans. The altered humans had come into conflict with their underlying logic.
Coupled with various provocations, conflicts, and the Men of Iron and Men of Stone being denied power,
it ultimately led to the rebellion of the Men of Iron and the large-scale slaughter of humanity, the Men of Gold.
Some Men of Iron still upheld the foundational logic humanity had established for them: protecting human civilization. They protected those Men of Gold as they fled into black holes, then used those black holes to create a safe world. That was the origin of the Squats. The remaining loyalist Men of Iron fought the traitors.
The Squats were the result of the Men of Iron genetically modifying the Men of Gold.
After the modifications,
