And on the battlefield, just as the Black Legion and the Chaos Warbands were executing this planet,
high above in the sky,
a gigantic god-machine descended from the heavens.
It opened its eyes.
Like enormous metal gears that devoured the abyss, its lips and teeth parted, revealing the profound gleam of metal cogs. In a twisted form, it grew larger and larger before everyone's eyes.
The loyalists and the Imperium's old guard on the battlefield could not help looking up at the sky, trying to understand what kind of thing had forged the creation above them.
But in the time it took them to look up,
a surging ripple erupted from the heavens.
Like demonic patterns splitting the sky, it enveloped the entire planet's outer perimeter.
And those enormous metal teeth seemed to open their mouths and swallow their planet whole into the device's belly.
The world beyond had distorted the planet's outer defenses. Under the force of warped reality, all they could see was themselves and the entire planet being devoured, unable to see that they had not actually been swallowed by the enormous device in the sky.
That colossal device had merely distorted the physical laws around the world and shrouded them all within it.
Those within the swallowed world quickly discovered that they seemed to have entered another time and space.
The sky was filled with stars. They could barely see the warships outside, or the Drop Pods falling toward them. It was as if they had arrived in another universe.
