During the war of gods in the Aeldari world, as the gods fell one after another, only a very small number of Aeldari gods remained. The others had either been destroyed by Chaos or buried themselves away, waiting for the chance to reappear among the Aeldari of later ages.
The Aeldari god of life had been taken in by Nurgle and kept in his back garden.
As far as Nurgle was concerned, if he could tolerate Mortarion possessing his current territory and retaining his Warp essence without forcibly changing Mortarion's nature, then keeping an Aeldari god of life was no problem at all.
Nurgle's back garden contained far too many creations he had taken in. These twisted monsters were utterly incapable of communicating with people from the normal universe. In the eyes of these distorted beings, their living environment was paradise, and Nurgle was their kind father. Nurgle had bestowed everything they now possessed upon them.
