"Captain, leave it to me."
On certain battlefields, Necrons equipment could utterly crush Chaos with its specialized effectiveness.
Because no matter how powerful a Chaos daemon was, it was still bound by the laws of physical reality. For a Chaos daemon to enter the physical universe, it had to emerge from a place with an extremely high density of Warp energy, supplemented by a body in the physical world.
And the greatest function of the Necrons' Gauss Rays was to directly disintegrate all physically real entities, including the daemon bodies created by daemons through Warp energy.
After being stunned for a moment by the appearance of the Dreadnoughts,
the Lamenters came to their senses and turned their attention back to the Black Legion.
Though they did not know why the enemy had come here,
this was the best chance to atone by fighting the Chaos before them.
Their Chapter now had only one purpose.
That was to sacrifice themselves, using their sacrifice to pave the way for the Imperium and create greater value for humanity.
Whether it was destroying more Chaos and reducing the number of Chaos forces the Imperium had to face,
or launching the penitent crusade against the Tyranid hive fleet that they should have undertaken, exterminating the invading Tyranids.
The purpose was to use their lives to buy the Imperium some breathing room.
Thus, they feared no death and pressed ever onward.
Now that they had reinforcements, it did not mean they no longer had to continue their crusade.
Until their Chapter had been completely sacrificed, they were not permitted to stop.
They would sacrifice themselves until nothing remained of the Chapter but its old banners.
"Attack!"
"Follow behind the Dreadnoughts!"
The Lamenters' company captain had originally led the Lamenters in a fearless charge toward the Chaplain.
