"Um... do you believe that demons exist in this world?"
After thinking for a moment... Yae Sakura looked around, then put on a hesitant expression as she softly spoke to Kagome.
"Demons?!"
"Huh? D-demons? This..."
Hearing Yae Sakura's words, the three girls were clearly stunned, as though they were extremely surprised by what the long-eared girl before them had said.
"Aren't demons just legends? How could they possibly really exist in this world? Miss Yae, you're joking, right?"
"Demons and all that are complete nonsense!"
As students of the new era, they knew quite a bit about demon legends. But from childhood until now... they had never actually seen any of those legendary things, so it was hard for them to believe.
"Um... although my family runs a shrine, demons and things like that..."
They probably didn't exist, right?
Logically speaking, since her family owned a shrine, Kagome should have been the one convincing others that demons existed. But... after growing up all these years, she truly had never seen one. Her grandfather claimed to possess spiritual powers, yet she had never seen any sign of them.
So despite being born into a shrine family, Kagome did not really believe in demons unless she saw one with her own eyes.
"No! Demons truly exist..."
"Since Miss Higurashi's family owns a shrine, could you take me to visit it?"
Brushing aside the hair by her ear, Yae Sakura stared at Kagome as she asked.
"This... all right."
Though she did not really believe in demons, her family did run a shrine, so they generally would not refuse visitors. Besides, her grandfather was a relatively well-known priest in the area. Although Kagome had never seen anything special about him, quite a few people nearby still believed in him.
