Due to the nature of Bone-Eater's Well, priestesses used it as a dumping ground for demon corpses, tossing all kinds of them inside. Mistress Centipede had originally been a centipede; after dying, she turned into bones within Bone-Eater's Well, until... she was awakened by the power of the Jewel of Four Souls within Kagome.
