"Please, come in..."
Luna opened the door and invited Yae Sakura and Kagome inside. Yae Sakura and Kagome walked in to find a simple, ordinary room, completely unlike the residences at Higurashi Shrine... or even those in modern society. There were no chairs in the house, only several bamboo mats laid on the floor and a table.
Some dried food was also placed on the shelves...
Of course, that was not the most important thing. The most important thing was... an incredibly cute little girl sitting beside the table. Yet the instant they saw her, she vanished.
"What a cute little girl! Huh? Where did she go?" Kagome blinked at the spot where the girl had disappeared, her face full of confusion... Had she seen wrong?
"What little girl?"
Hearing Kagome, Hanako asked curiously.
"Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me?"
Kagome rubbed her eyes again. Once she confirmed there was no little girl, she could only sigh helplessly.
"How can your eyes be playing tricks on you at such a young age? Luna, go help Lady Yae prepare a room."
Hanako smiled at Kagome's words, then turned and instructed her daughter-in-law.
"Yes, Grandma."
Something seemed slightly off about Luna at that moment. She kept glancing toward the place Kagome had mentioned, then sighed and turned to help prepare the room.
"Lady Yae, please sit for a while. I'll get you something to eat."
After leading them to the bamboo mats, Hanako slowly turned to fetch some food. Quite a few fruits had ripened this season. Hanako's family was fairly well-off; her son had become a minor leader serving Lord Xia Gu in the main city, and they usually kept some fruit at home.
