"Here!"
After buying several skewers of fried tofu from the snack stall, Yae Sakura handed one to Mayoi. Foxes in this country really did all love fried tofu!
Even though she was only a Half-Demon fox.
"Thank you, milady!"
Mayoi accepted the fried tofu and hurriedly thanked her.
She did like fried tofu. Back in her village, it had probably been the most delicious food available. But it was not the only thing she liked; she liked other foods too. Fried tofu was merely one of them.
"Kagome, do you want one?"
Seeing Mayoi nibbling at her fried tofu, Yae Sakura offered another skewer to Kagome beside her.
"Yes."
It was not that Kagome particularly liked it. She was simply curious about ancient fried tofu and wanted to see how it differed from modern fried tofu.
Taking it from Yae Sakura, Kagome curiously took a bite. It tasted pretty good... completely different from modern fried tofu. There was very little seasoning, but the tofu's own fragrance was much richer.
The three of them continued onward while eating fried tofu, eventually reaching the city gates without realizing it. Then... they unexpectedly spotted the inseparable man and woman, the samurai Okugoro and the female ninja Seto, seemingly preparing to leave the city as well.
"It's those two. Are they leaving? Didn't they say they would wait until the child was born before challenging Lord Musashi?" Kagome stared at the pair ahead with curiosity written all over her face.
"..."
Yae Sakura nibbled on her fried tofu as she silently watched them. That Buddha-like power around them had grown stronger than the last time.
And this time, Yae Sakura could clearly sense... the presence of a new life inside the ninja called Seto's belly.
They had not seen each other for just a
