Sunlight streamed through gaps in the trees, casting several beams of light into the rather dim forest—especially upon the girl with long pink hair and two fox ears atop her head.

The fox lady wore a shrine maiden outfit in unusual hues on her upper body, a red plaid miniskirt that reached only to her thighs below, and white thigh-high socks wrapped around her long, slender legs.
Stepping forward, the girl walked along the pebbled path one step at a time. Her fox ears swayed with each step. She was the kind of shrine maiden who would make most people's hearts flutter at first sight...
After entering the forest, the fox lady slowed down considerably, quietly admiring the scenery around her as she walked.
She saw stone lanterns along the roadside, their golden light illuminating the extremely dark paths through the forest. Some of the lanterns had fallen over for unknown reasons, but even so, the lights within them had not gone out.
Before they knew it, Yae Sakura and Higokumaru spotted a torii gate ahead. There was a short flight of stairs before it, and many tanuki statues stood on either side. These statues seemed to have been there for a very long time, covered in moss.
After climbing the stairs and passing beneath the torii gate, they had officially entered the interior of Chinju Forest.
Looking ahead, they could see even more torii gates, appearing at intervals along the way. Stone lanterns also appeared from time to time beside the road, their light piercing the gloom.
There were even tiny shrines by the roadside, though it was impossible to tell whom they enshrined.
"Big Sis, look over there..."
Higokumaru tugged on Yae Sakura's sleeve and pointed at a stone not far away.
