"Slaves..."
Though their minds were completely blank, they somehow still retained some basic common sense. Naturally, they understood what slaves were.
They instinctively resisted the idea and found it hard to accept.
How could they possibly be slaves?!
"That can't be true! How could I be a slave?"
"Why? I don't understand."
Neither Norn nor Freia was willing to believe what Rita had said. They shook their heads, unable to accept it. Even without their memories, they still felt an intense disgust toward the status of a slave.
"However, that is the truth. These are your slave contracts. See for yourselves!"
Rita was not at all surprised by their reaction. Though they had lost their memories, they had originally been princesses. To suddenly fall from noble princesses to the lowest class of slaves, they would naturally reject it on a subconscious level.
So she handed them the prepared slave contract papers, along with the documentation proving that she had purchased them. Everything looked utterly real.
"We... really are slaves?!"

With the evidence laid out before them, Norn and Freia had no choice but to face reality, even if they could not accept it.
"You were originally daughters of aristocratic families in this country. Because your fathers lost in a political struggle, all the men were executed, while all the women were demoted to slavery."
Rita sat before Norn and Freia and told them the story of "their" past. Her expression did not change in the slightest as she lied.
