"Griseo, what... does that monster look like?"
Staring at the vending machine ahead, Mai Sakurajima swallowed. She had not noticed anything when Griseo had not mentioned it, but now she seemed to be able to see faint traces of black mist.
Yet she still could not make out what the evil spirit looked like.
"Do you want to see it?"
Griseo raised her head slightly to look at Mai Sakurajima. She only came up to Mai Sakurajima's neck, so she had to tilt her head up to look at her from this close.
"Um..."
Mai Sakurajima hesitated. She was a little afraid, but also somewhat curious, making it hard for her to decide right away.
"Is it... very scary-looking?"
After struggling for a few seconds, Mai Sakurajima hesitantly asked Griseo. Since entering this state, she had indeed occasionally seen phantom images of monsters.
But they had never been clear, and she had not paid much attention to them before, so she had never known what those monsters really looked like.
She had only caught a vague glimpse of them...
"Yes. Scary."
Griseo nodded gently. Setting everything else aside, this evil spirit might not be especially powerful, but it was definitely terrifying. Its twisted face made Griseo feel that even she would suffer mental contamination if she stared at it too long.
Even though she could rely on the memories of the other Valkyries in her mind to counteract the evil spirit's influence, she still did not want to look it in the eyes for too long.
Even if it were not an evil spirit, merely staring at something extremely ugly for too long would still affect one's mood.
Looking at ugly, frightening images for extended periods could drive someone mad even without any mysterious power involved...
