Shimizu Miyuki 5: Asking for Blades

In the dim night, rows of streetlights illuminated the road. Unlike the lively night markets in the city, this place was silent and deserted, save for the occasional passing vehicle.

A little girl with a backpack on her back and a half-meter-tall stuffed doll in her arms was walking along the roadside, her face filled with sadness and misery.

The girl looked to be around ten years old. She had long twin ponytails and wore a school uniform: a white blouse, a plaid skirt that reached her knees, pink casual shoes, and white knee-high socks. She looked incredibly cute.

After walking for a while, the little girl suddenly stopped. She looked at the empty road. Other than the streetlights at the roadside, most places were pitch-black, as though man-eating monsters lurked in those dark corners. It was terrifying. The little girl suddenly felt a little regretful, but she did not want to go home either.

That home of hers had long ceased to feel like a home.

Her parents argued every day when they came home, and often even fought.

Especially tonight, her parents had fought even more fiercely. The little girl... Miyuki felt that she no longer wanted to stay in that home, so she was running away.

Miyuki had taken out the money from her piggy bank, along with the other funds she had hidden away. Then she packed her doll and some important things into her backpack before running out.

But now, Miyuki was starting to regret it. If she had known it would be this scary outside...

She should have left during the day.

It was so late now. Would some monster appear and eat her...?

But Miyuki was unwilling to go back now.

After thinking about it, Miyuki hugged the stuffed doll in her arms
