Dr. Gaia led Bronya to a lab bench, then took out a file and handed it to her.

Bronya accepted the file and swiftly began scanning it with the Herrscher of Reason's Core, absorbing its contents at a speed unimaginable to ordinary people.

"Bat Serum? Vampires..."

A few minutes later, Bronya lowered the file in her hands and looked at Dr. Gaia in surprise. The document detailed a genetic serum called Bat Serum—or rather, Vampire Gene Serum.

According to the document, once injected with this serum, a person's physical abilities would be enhanced severalfold. They could even grow a pair of bat wings and gain the ability to fly. More importantly... they would become immune to the T-Virus, because the serum itself was created by combining the T-Virus with a special bat gene.

"That's right. After the Resident Evil series begins, without a serum, anyone injured by a zombie will turn into one of them. And... even if you aren't injured... if your physical condition is poor, you can still become infected.

"But the virus inside zombies gave me plenty of inspiration. Its infectivity is terrifying, and unless their heads are hit, they won't truly go down. The only problem is that they have no intelligence and are driven solely by hunger."

The Vampire Gene Serum Dr. Gaia was developing was an improved strain made from the T-Virus and the genes of a rare giant bat.

Unlike those zombies, people injected with this serum could retain their intelligence and memories.
