At one of Weekly Shonen Sunday's editorial departments under Shogakukan, practically every editor, including the division's editor-in-chief, had been incredibly busy these past few days. In a few days, Weekly Shonen would hold its meeting to decide on new serializations.
Each division was obligated to select the best manga and submit them, though the final decision on what to put forward rested with the editor-in-chief. Before that... the other editors would first screen out the qualifying works.
The editor-in-chief placed great importance on this submission round. As long as one of the manga he submitted made it into Weekly Shonen Jump's serialization lineup, it would be a success. And if that manga became a huge hit and brought the company substantial profits, then as the person who had discovered it, he would have leverage in competing for the position of editor-in-chief at the head office in the future.
Likewise, the editors responsible for the manga stood to gain enormous benefits as well. Company perks and the like were naturally indispensable.
But... among the submitted works so far, there had not been a single one that truly caught the eye. The editor-in-chief had even been wearing a constant frown these past few days, making the other editors in the department afraid of upsetting him.
"Ugh!"
Setting down the manuscript in her hands, Iida Ayano sighed and took a sip from the cup beside her.
Compared to the other editors in the department, she had been doing fairly well, especially because she had once been responsible for a certain guy... which had earned her enough money to buy a green Mazda RX-7.
But there had been no progress in the past two years!
