Komuro Akari was a university student in Tokyo. Of course... not at the University of Tokyo. Just because you were in Tokyo did not mean you could attend the University of Tokyo. As Japan's most prestigious institution, it was a lofty dream in most people's hearts.
As long as someone got into the University of Tokyo, their future achievements could hardly be lacking. Companies also offered generous terms to graduates of the University of Tokyo!
You could even say that if you merely mentioned you had graduated from the University of Tokyo, most people around you would look at you differently, perhaps even subtly treat you as the leader.
Unfortunately, for most people, the University of Tokyo was only a dream.
Still, even if it was not the University of Tokyo, other universities in Tokyo were highly sought after. After all, for Japan... Tokyo was a city developed with the strength of the entire nation. Being able to survive here was the goal of their lives.
Though he was not a University of Tokyo student, Komuro Akari's school was passable. Besides... as a Tokyo native, he had started out countless steps ahead of others.
As a university student of Japan's new generation, he shared many interests with otaku. He liked playing console games, watching anime and manga, reading light novels, and wandering around conventions. While he was not as crazed as those hardcore otaku, his family was fairly well-off, so every year he contributed a respectable amount of GDP to Japan's two-dimensional entertainment industry.
Unlike ordinary otaku, however, he was not particularly fond of passionate anime and manga. Perhaps he had watched too much of it in the past and had grown tired of it.
Now, he preferred more unconventional things... such as beautifully drawn cute slice-of-life manga, yuri manga
