Siberia was a vast region in northern Asia, stretching west from the Ural Mountains to Cape Dezhnev in the east, bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, and covering as much as 13.22 million square kilometers. Most of Siberia, however, was controlled by Russia.
"Siberia" meant "the peaceful land," its name derived from the Mongolian word "Sibor." In ancient times, Siberia had been a muddy region, and the Mongol ancestors who lived there named it after its terrain. When the Russians arrived, they transliterated the name as "Siberia." The region was rich in resources, and the West Siberian Plain could even be called Russia's breadbasket.
Many ordinary villagers lived around Siberia's snowy plains. Their lives were hardly good, but they could barely get by, and things were at least peaceful.
Then, near the end of the twentieth century, an iron tower suddenly rose from the snowfields. Its construction had been so fast that no one could believe it. It felt as though its foundation had only just been laid, yet before long... an iron tower that utterly shocked the locals had been completed.
This iron tower had been built under the world's most powerful organization on the surface: Schicksal.
Schicksal was this world's first organization of this era dedicated to fighting "Honkai." It had been established to eradicate Honkai from the world and had already existed as early as the fifth century AD, with a long and storied history.
In the fourteenth century AD, it officially became a secret organization led by the Apocalypse family.
It originated in Europe. By modern times, it had established branches across the world and terrifyingly controlled most of Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
In its early days, the organization had been structured around a religious framework, with its leader known as the "Bishop."
