The great hall fell silent.
Though Divine Lords Azure Cloud and Great Love longed for it beyond measure, neither dared press the matter again.
They knew that the strong held firm beliefs and wills of their own. Mere words would do little and might instead bring bitter consequences.

In an instant, the Golden Core cultivator turned to ash. Then even the ash vanished without a trace.
He was gone, leaving behind neither karmic ties nor material remains.
In the end, he still gave no clear answer.
Silence settled over the palace.
The two Divine Lords rose, bitterly disappointed. They exchanged a long look and sighed without a word, unable to contain their feelings.

That sword cultivator seldom hid his emotions, especially before old acquaintances. His thoughts were plain enough: he had little interest in this opportunity, supreme though it seemed.

Why?
Because if that man did not die, he would surely reach the near-immortal level.
To him, reaching that level was only a matter of time, a goal he would attain as naturally as water flowing into a channel. Why would he long for it?
