"The Emerald Kingdom shouldn't know anything about Faerûn's situation," Anse said thoughtfully.
"What if some humans defected to them?" Elyse guessed. "Maybe it has nothing to do with Vihlar's legend. Perhaps they want to capture and tame wyverns."
"That's possible too." Anse stroked his chin in thought.
Fangtooth Forest did indeed have quite a few wyverns. It was only natural for the Emerald Kingdom to tame them to fill vacancies in its guards.
Elyse held up the teleportation cube. "Taking control of White Stone Island comes first."
She had the same idea as Anse: turn White Stone Island into a rear base, so they could advance or retreat as they pleased.
"I'll return to Durag immediately."
"Then I'll gather the guards and wait for you here."
The two disembarked at the same time. Anse casually stuffed the demon statue from the shrine into the empty dragonhide bag. He had yet to decide how to deal with it; perhaps selling it to Travelers' Rest would not be a bad idea.
As for why he did not destroy it?
Destroying an idol was a grave provocation and desecration of faith. If a god had ever descended upon that statue, there was a high chance it could sense both the idol's destruction and the desecrator responsible.
That could very likely invite hostility—or even pursuit and slaughter.
Balor was not a god, but it was still better to be cautious.
Afterward, Anse tried teleporting the ship into Holrevin. It took some effort, but he succeeded in the end.
The Scepter of Sanctuary's teleportation ability had its limits. If the Dragonfly had been any larger or heavier, it probably could not have fit through unless it was dismantled and transported in pieces.
"I'm off."
He waved at Elyse, summoned Nornorth, and headed straight for Durag.
