Qi Refinement Way

The Golden Core is formed after Foundation Establishment Perfection. At this threshold, liquid mana can be semi-solidified with an exceptional cultivation method and a suitable secret art; this preparation alone can raise the chance of successful core formation by at least twenty percent. Core formation ultimately compresses liquid mana into a solid True Core or True Pill. 176

Foundation Establishment cultivators are advised to form their core before age 150, before their essence, qi, and spirit become lax and their success chance sharply declines. Forming a core before 120 indicates potential for Nascent Soul. 126

At Core Formation, a cultivator's divine sense is conventionally measured in li rather than zhang. Divine sense extending to one hundred li is considered Nascent Soul-level. 82 293

Formation

Core formation tests a cultivator's essence, qi, and spirit. During Fang Qing's breakthrough, the first trial was a qi-and-blood trial in which immense heaven-and-earth spiritual energy entered his body and was directed into his dantian to hammer the semi-solid core. 185

• A specialized core-forming secret art can repeatedly temper the mana-pellet and improve its final quality. Fang Qing uses the Hundred Turns, Thousand Twists Formula to imitate sea waves hammering the core. 185
• The second trial tests divine sense. The cultivator must precisely control and compress every strand of mana; a mistake can destroy the forming pill. 185
• The final mana trial transforms liquid true essence into True Pill power and tests the depth, purity, and stability of the cultivator's accumulated cultivation. 185
• Golden Core formation draws heavenly tribulation after the True Pill is condensed. This lightning tribulation is a distinctive feature of the Qi Refinement Way rather than the Breath-Nourishing Dao's Purple Mansion breakthrough. 185 186 246
• Third-Order Grand Formations can prevent outside interference during the breakthrough, but cannot replace the cultivator's own preparation. 185

Core Formation Cultivation

After formation, cultivation centers on accumulating and refining True Core power. The quality of the core, the cultivation art, the cultivator's physique and spiritual sense, and the quality of their Life-Bound Artifacts all affect the speed and safety of later advancement. 246

• A Core Formation cultivator's Life-Bound Artifacts can advance alongside their True Core. Fang Qing's Devouring Sea Flask and Dark Nether Mirror respectively reached third-rank mid-grade and premium low-grade after his mid-stage breakthrough. 246
• At Late Core Formation, Fang Qing's Devouring Sea Flask and Dark Nether Mirror became superior third-rank magic treasures. 293
• Converting a True Core into another cultivation art's core remains possible, but becomes increasingly inefficient after Core Formation because a cultivator's Life-Bound Artifacts, secret arts, and other supporting methods are normally tied to their original core. 284

True Pill Quality

True Pill quality is determined by factors including cultivation method and core-formation preparation. It affects Golden Core cultivation speed, the severity of bottlenecks, and future prospects for Nascent Soul. After core formation, aptitude becomes less decisive than True Pill quality. 185 203

Fang Qing formed a High-Grade True Pill after using the Azure Sea Method, the Hundred Turns, Thousand Twists Formula, a Golden Core Pill, and the Everlasting Spring. 185 186

Zhan Hongxiu also formed a High-Grade True Pill through the Tortoise-Crane Longevity Formula, a Golden Core Pill, the Hundred-Fold Pill Aura, Ten-Thousand-Year Skyblue Essence, and Turtle Elder's teachings. 243

Golden Core True Lords

“Golden Core” has a separate, higher meaning in the Breath-Nourishing Dao: a Golden Core True Lord is defined by control of Golden Positions rather than by condensing a Qi Refinement Way True Core. Golden Positions are also called Golden Seats. 271 357 633

A complete Water Virtue arrangement requires [Chariot Water] as the primary “monarch” position, [Wall Water] as the subordinate “minister,” [Three Stars Water] as the compliant “assistant,” and [Winnowing Basket Water] as the deficient “courier.” 357

Attaining Gold

A Breath-Nourishing Dao cultivator generally reaches Golden Core by bringing four divine abilities of a single lineage to fruition and gaining the response of a Golden Position. True Person Guangmu attained Gold after displaying the four [Horn Wood] divine abilities Shattering Edge, Vast Forest Wood, Spirit-Chang Crossing, and Perching on a Withered Branch in Silence. 357

The four Golden Positions of a complete Golden Core configuration are ultimately assembled to seek the [Year Guardian] level. A [Year Guardian] exceeds Golden Core Perfection and can wield authority over time and history within its own Dao Path. 271 647

Void Manifestation does not create a Golden Seat from nothing; it uncovers and manifests a Seat that had been concealed from the current world. Young Master Yu initially failed because he believed [Nether Warden] did not exist and hesitated before merging his Golden Nature with it. After history was reversed, he used Fang Qing's Gold-Seeking Method to manifest the hidden Seat and attain the Dao. 735

The completed [Nether Warden] path requires the four Divine Abilities Ghost Gate, Yellow Springs River, Hao Li Procession, and Stone of Three Lives. Its Golden Core authority governs departed souls, evil spirits, reincarnation, nether laws, ghost officials, and the Nether Bureau. 734 735

Position Seals and Lesser Positions

Refining a Position Seal may grant power close to a Golden Core True Lord, but permanently restricts further cultivation and prevents the holder from annexing additional Golden Positions. 477

• A Position Seal is not merely a treasure: the [Maiden Earth] Position Seal recovered by Fang Qing was the remaining essence of the Lord of the Charnel Forest's corpse and retained the potential to revive as a monstrous evil. 477
• Fang Qing cleansed the Position Seal's residual imprint through the Dao-Born Pearl and allowed Sangji to refine it, making Sangji a Golden Core True Lord. 477 481
• Sangji's Position Seal-derived status remains weaker than that of a True Lord who genuinely controls a subordinate Golden Position. 481

Auxiliary Seats

An Auxiliary Seat is a deputy position with immense potential but less authority than a true Golden Seat or Fruit Seat. A Golden Core True Lord governs an entire Dao lineage, whereas an Auxiliary Seat improves its recipient's opportunity to attain Gold without constituting complete control of the Dao. 721

Fang Qing created and bestowed these four imprints in the Heaven of Purple Firmament. Their recipients may use them to improve their future prospects, but the Seats remain connected to Fang Qing's authority rather than becoming wholly independent possessions. 721 722

Shi Tianfeng's [Bane Star] imprint dramatically strengthens his Water Virtue aura and advances his Clear-as-Turbid Divine Ability toward perfection. Although he remains only an Early Purple Mansion cultivator, Shi Tianzun judges that his chance of becoming a Golden Core True Lord now exceeds his own. 722

• True Lord Guangmu — Attained Gold through [Horn Wood], but was later reduced to the [Horn Wood] lineage after True Lord Kui Zang Xianqing advanced to late Golden Core. 357 384
• True Lord Kui Zang Xianqing — A [Kui Wood] True Lord who reached Golden Core Late Stage amid the manifestation of an Azure Star that aided cultivators of his lineage. 384

Golden Seats and the Dao-Born Pearl

After reaching Golden Core, Fang Qing's Dao-Born Pearl can seal Golden Seats under his control and use Omnipresence to draw upon their authority without manifesting the Seats directly. This can temporarily raise his effective realm by an additional minor stage, though Golden Seats kept within the pearl cannot be used to shortcut a genuine [Year Guardian] advancement. 633

Fang Qing has experimented with combining Golden Seats. [Winnowing Basket Water], [Cold Intercalation], [Profound Thunder], and [Wings Fire] can briefly produce Golden Core Perfection-level power, while the combination of [Great Void], [Time], [Winnowing Basket Water], and [Wings Fire] forms a time-space water-fire force he calls a lesser [Year Guardian]. Such combinations impose an extreme burden on the body and are normally unsustainable. 633

Fang Qing can also establish Auxiliary Seat imprints for selected cultivators. These imprints are intended both to cultivate future Golden Core candidates and to test experimental cultivation paths through their recipients. 721

Eastern Sovereign Taiyi's [Year Guardian] authority extends to history itself. When Lord of the Clouds invokes that authority during Young Master Yu's failed Gold-seeking attempt, heaven and earth return to the moment before the failure; most Golden Core True Lords retain only incomplete fragments of the erased timeline. 735
