Before the second class, Iruka had them readjust the spacing between their seats.
They were not changing seats, just pulling their chairs inward, placing their schoolbags to the side, and leaving a finger's width between each desk. It sounded minor, but it was troublesome in practice. Class One's desks had already been packed tightly together. Once the front row shifted, the back rows slanted along with it. Some people found it bothersome and stuffed their bags beneath their desks, only for the zippers to stick out and catch on the sleeves of the people beside them.
The moment Kiyo saw the words "a finger's width," he immediately lowered his head and measured his own finger.
"Whose finger?" he asked.
Iruka paused with his chalk. "Not your imagination."
Naruto turned around from the front. "I think mine is wider."

Che did not look any longer. He lowered his head and placed his own bag to the right of his chair, leaving a little room by the aisle. Kiyo copied him, but left his bag strap trailing outside. Saori reached out and nudged it inward for him.
"Thanks," Kiyo said quietly.
"It almost tripped me," Saori said.
"Then it's still a public enemy."
"There are a lot of public enemies today."
