"Sure." Uchiha Yan smiled and nodded. "It's really about Tsunade being chosen as Hokage."
"Danzo couldn't accept it. He turned on us and tried to seize the position by force."
"He's always believed that if he hadn't been a step too slow back then, the Third Hokage the Second Hokage chose would have been him."

The next instant, the Second Hokage landed in a flash. He tossed the unconscious Danzo onto the ground, dusted off his hands, then kicked him for good measure. "Bullshit!"
"I never once considered making this bastard the Third Hokage!"
"The Monkey has his faults, but he's miles better than this piece of work."
"This bastard's ambition knows no bounds. He's hotheaded and doesn't have an ounce of tolerance."
"He's rotten to the core and full of dirty tricks. Something like him thinks he deserves to be Hokage?"
"Konoha would've been finished sooner or later in his hands."
That still wasn't enough for the Second Hokage. He kicked Danzo again, right in a face swollen beyond recognition.
Danzo lay on the ground and spoke again. "To be honest, I didn't think the Monkey was all that suitable back then, either."
"Unfortunately, I died too suddenly. I didn't have time to settle the village's affairs."
"And I had no time to teach the Monkey properly. That's how things ended up like this."
In the end, he had died too soon.
It wasn't as though he had never reflected on his own mistakes.
The matter with the Uchiha clan, for instance. He had indeed been part of the problem.
