He glanced at Kakashi, his tone still arrogant. "Tch, guess you got lucky."
With that, he turned and walked away.
The injured Kakashi could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground.
Everyone was left wearing complicated expressions.
Teacher Yijiao watched Lan's retreating figure, his brows tightly furrowed.
This Uchiha child's taijutsu was terrifyingly strong, but his personality was also... far too dangerous.
Obito hurried over and helped Kakashi up. "Hey! Kakashi! Are you okay? Lan went way too far!"
Kakashi shook his head and looked in the direction Lan had left, his gaze profound. "He's strong... and he still wasn't going all out."
Rin also ran over and took out a medical kit. "Kakashi, I'll treat your wounds."
Under the sunlight, Lan's figure walked farther and farther away, his back lonely and resolute.
He knew this was only the beginning.
In this dangerous world, he had to become stronger—strong enough to control his own fate, strong enough that no one would ever dare look down on him again!
The power of the Vegeta Template had only just begun to reveal the tip of the iceberg!
After the practical combat class ended, Lan went straight home.
His back felt chilly, so he quickly changed clothes and put the matter out of his mind.
"Battle Instinct (Beginner)..." Lan closed his eyes, sensing the strange new feeling in his mind.
It was like a sixth sense, allowing him to detect the direction and intent of an opponent's attack a fraction of a second in advance during battle.
Though it was still vague, in a clash between experts, even that fraction of a second could often determine victory or defeat.
"It's somewhat useful." Lan curled his lip. "But compared to that, strength is still more important!"
As long as his strength was great enough, who cared about techniques or instincts? One punch would settle everything!
This pursuit of absolute power was also the result of his deliberate imitation of Vegeta.
As a battle fanatic, Vegeta believed in the supremacy of strength down to his bones.
He walked into the courtyard and began doing squats.
Iron weights were tied to each of his limbs and his back, and every time he rose, he had to concentrate the "ki" within his body and unleash it in a brief burst.
Beginner Ki Control allowed him to barely mobilize this newborn power on his own. Though he was still clumsy with it, every burst made him feel filled with strength.
Sweat soon soaked his clothes, and his muscles began to ache, but Lan's eyes only grew brighter.
This level of training would only make him stronger!
"One hundred... two hundred..." he counted silently. Every time he pushed himself up, the ground sank a little.
Just as he had done more than three hundred, a commotion suddenly arose outside the courtyard gate, mixed with what seemed to be a girl's crying.
Lan frowned and stopped.
So noisy.
He had not wanted to get involved, but that crying... sounded somewhat familiar.
Could it be... Nohara Rin?
After hesitating for a moment, Lan still walked over and opened the courtyard gate.
At the mouth of an alley not far away, four older students had gathered. Uchiha Obito was already lying on the ground, clutching his stomach and groaning in pain.
Nohara Rin crouched beside Obito, her eyes red as tears welled up in them.
Lan recognized the leader among the four older students. His name was Uchiha Tekka, and he was looking teasingly at Obito and Rin on the ground.
"Tsk, tsk. How pitiful. One has no father or mother, while the other lost both parents. Two orphan brats together, huh?"
Uchiha Tekka's voice was not loud, yet it pierced the ears like needles.
"Obito, with you being such trash, you can't even spit out a tiny spark, yet you shout all day about becoming Hokage in front of outsiders. You're utterly disgracing the Uchiha!"
"You've gone too far!" Rin raised her head and shouted tearfully.
"Too far?" Tekka sneered. "We're just telling this trash to recognize his place!"
"An orphan brat with no father or mother..."
Those words exploded in Lan's ears like thunder.
His parents had also died on a mission not long ago. Their bodies were not even cold yet!
An uncontrollable rage instantly erupted from the depths of Lan's heart. His gaze abruptly turned incomparably cold, as though tempered in ice.
"What did you just say?"
The icy voice came from behind them, making everyone present shudder.
Uchiha Tekka and the others suddenly turned around to see that Lan had somehow appeared at the mouth of the alley. Terrifying fury churned within his pitch-black eyes.
"Uchiha Lan?" Tekka and the others' expressions changed slightly.
They had all witnessed Lan's prowess at the Clan Compound training ground last time. Seeing the icy aura he now emitted, they instantly understood what it meant for snow to fall in June.
"I asked you, what did you just say?" Lan walked toward them step by step, each step seeming to stomp on their hearts.
Tekka forced himself to remain calm. "We... we're teaching this trash a lesson for showing off all day. What does that have to do with you?"
"Orphan brats?!" Lan's voice was like a blade tempered in fire. "You actually said those words to the children left behind by those who sacrificed themselves for the village! You filthy bastards!"
"You're courting death!" Enraged by Lan's attitude and emboldened by his numbers, Tekka shouted fiercely despite his inner fear. "Brothers, get him! Let him see what we're made of!"
The other three students exchanged glances. Though afraid, they still moved to surround Lan.
"Lan, be careful!" Rin cried out worriedly.
Obito, lying on the ground, also struggled to get up. "Lan... don't worry about me..."
Lan did not even look at them. His gaze was fixed firmly on Uchiha Tekka, as if he wanted to devour him alive.
"Trash, what you said just now successfully enraged me."
"So, are you ready to bear my wrath?"
Before his words had even faded, Lan's figure vanished from where he stood!
The threefold speed boost provided by the Saiyan Physique made it impossible for these ninja academy students, who had yet to graduate, to track him at all!
Bang!
With a muffled impact, Tekka did not even see Lan move before he felt a heart-rending pain tear through his abdomen. His whole body flew backward like a kite with its string cut, slammed into the wall, then slid to the ground and passed out completely.
One punch!
Just one punch!
The remaining three students were scared out of their wits. How could they dare step forward? They turned and ran.
Lan did not chase them. He walked over to Tekka, gave him a cold glance, then turned to leave.
"Wait! Lan... th-thank you..." Obito said with difficulty.
Rin hurriedly thanked him as well. "Lan, thank you..."
Without turning his head, Lan replied coldly, "That's enough. Nohara Rin, after you take Uchiha Obito to a nearby hospital, leave our Uchiha Clan Compound. Outsiders aren't welcome here."
"Wait!" Rin called out again.
Lan stopped and glanced back at her, his brows slightly furrowed. "What else is it?"
"I was the one who specifically asked Obito to bring me here to find you. It has nothing to do with Obito. I'm sorry for causing you trouble." With that, Rin gave him a deep bow.
