Hidden Leaf Village Ninja Academy

The teacher was lecturing the future heirs of the Will of Fire with great enthusiasm, and the students below were all paying close attention.

Only one person was an exception, resting his chin on his hands and staring blankly out the window.

"Uchiha Jin, why aren't you listening to the lecture again?" The teacher casually tossed a piece of chalk onto Uchiha Jin's desk. "Listen carefully, you are all heirs to the Will of Fire in the future!"

"Yes, yes, okay teacher." Uchiha Jin replied listlessly.

Seeing his sincere attitude in admitting his mistake, the teacher continued the lesson. Meanwhile, Uchiha Jin stared at the blackboard and fell into deep thought.

He had been watching Boonie Bears quite intently back on Blue Star. It was only after drinking a cup of coffee from a Naruto collaboration that his head felt heavy and dizzy.

When he opened his eyes again, what greeted him was a stark white ceiling and the sound of noisy voices in his ears.

"He's awake, he's awake!"

"This kid is really lucky, he didn't die after all that?"

"Whose family is this from? Does anyone recognize him..."

"Your name is Uchiha Jin. From now on, the clan will give you a monthly living allowance. My name is Uchiha Mikoto." A young girl handed a heavy envelope to Uchiha Jin.

At the same time, she looked at the little boy who was a head shorter than her and had a bit of baby fat on his face. Her mind couldn't help but recall what her mother had told her.

"The clan leader investigated, and this child's parents passed away not long ago. He's a very pitiful child..."

He walked with his hands in his pockets, kicking small stones along the road. It wasn't until he exited the ninja academy gate that he noticed a young girl standing not far ahead.

Beside the girl stood a young boy, who was saying something to her. The girl, however, ignored him and kept peering toward the entrance of the ninja academy.

"Jin, over here, over here!" The girl waved her hands and shouted. Jin changed his slow pace into a light jog.

"Sister Mikoto, why are you here?" Jin asked curiously, his gaze shifting to the boy beside her.

Uchiha Mikoto smiled and flicked Jin on the forehead. "My mission is finished, so I came to pick you up from school. By the way, this is Uchiha Fugaku. Fugaku, this is the younger brother I told you about, Uchiha Jin."

"Hello, Brother Fugaku." Jin greeted him politely, and Fugaku nodded coldly.

This made Jin take a few more looks at Fugaku, thinking to himself: Tsk, as expected of Sasuke's dad. Sure enough, the coldness is cut from the same cloth.

"Let's go, Jin. Tonight, Sister Mikoto will make your favorite rice balls." Mikoto held Jin's small hand and walked away with a smile, completely ignoring Fugaku beside them.

"Really, Sister Mikoto? That's great!" Jin skipped along, automatically ignoring Fugaku as well.

Fugaku: Right, right, right, just treat me like this!

Uchiha Mikoto's house

"The last dish, braised carp is here!" Mikoto happily placed the plate on the table.

Jin and Fugaku sat on opposite sides of the table. Seeing Mikoto come out of the kitchen, both of them stood up at the same time to take the plate, but Fugaku ended up a step behind and was beaten to it by Jin.

"Thank you for your hard work, Sister Mikoto. Let me help you." Jin said with a grin.

Fugaku: ? Kid, you're trying to steal my wife, aren't you!

After the three of them finished the table of food, Mikoto suddenly said to Fugaku, "Brother Fugaku, can I ask you for a favor?"

Hearing Mikoto say this suddenly, Jin looked at her curiously, and his intuition told him that this matter was most likely related to him.

Fugaku was a little surprised and even a bit excited, but he remained very cold on the outside. "Oh, what is it, Mikoto?"

"Well..." Mikoto looked at Jin first before saying, "Could you teach Jin some basic ninjutsu?"

"Teach ninjutsu?" Fugaku frowned slightly. "The clan has teachers to instruct him, and he's still so young. Wouldn't it be better to learn the academy's ninjutsu first?"

Jin chose to lower his head and be invisible, while feeling full of gratitude toward Mikoto. He had only mentioned it in passing before, and he hadn't expected Mikoto to take it to heart.

"I can't always protect Jin by my side. Only when he is strong himself can I be at ease. Besides, the teachers in the clan aren't that great..." Mikoto pouted and looked at Fugaku with anticipation.

"Brother Fugaku, you are a genius of the Uchiha Clan. I can only be at ease if you teach Jin."

From this day on, Jin's life suddenly became fulfilling. He attended classes at the ninja academy during the day and learned to control chakra with Fugaku at night.

One evening three months later

Uchiha Training Ground

"You've mastered the most basic chakra control over these three months. Today, let's test your chakra nature." As Fugaku spoke, he handed over a piece of chakra induction paper.

After Jin took it, he began to test his nature under Fugaku's guidance.

"Fire, Lightning, Wind, Water, Earth?" Fugaku was very surprised. After thinking for a moment, he continued, "My suggestion is to focus on Fire, with the other natures as supplements."

"Okay, Brother Fugaku." Jin nodded blankly. He only knew that in the original story, the Third Hokage was a professor of ninjutsu who possessed all five chakra natures... looking at it this way, was he a genius?

"The Uchiha Clan's basic ninjutsu—Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique." Fugaku explained while performing the hand seals slowly, then spat a huge fireball forward.

He then signaled for Jin to try. Jin performed the hand seals: Snake-Ram-Monkey-Boar-Horse-Tiger. "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

Watching Jin's Great Fireball, which was not much different from his own, Fugaku couldn't help but nod in approval, though he said, "It's average. You still need to practice diligently."

Mikoto couldn't help but say, "What is it, Fugaku? Honestly, Jin is already doing great! Jin, come over and eat your bento."
