As the king of Lordaeron, the foremost human kingdom, Terenas Menethil had governed diligently since ascending the throne, making the already powerful nation of Lordaeron flourish all the more.

But that course was shattered by the invading Orcs.

With the help of the Dreadlords, the Orcs seized Kul Tiras through human spies and traitors. Then, using Kul Tiras as a springboard, they immediately marched east!

The first to bear the brunt was Lordaeron, the most prosperous and fertile of the human kingdoms. Some Orcs had also headed toward Gilneas and the Hillsbrad Foothills at the border of the four kingdoms. But without question, the human kingdom the Orcs most wanted to conquer was Lordaeron.

The Kingdom of Lordaeron possessed the most land, the largest population, the most prosperous trade environment, and the greatest grain reserves of all the human kingdoms.

To the Orcs, these were the things they desired most. Occupying Lordaeron would sustain their entire race.

Kul Tiras itself was still far too barren. The Orcs could not conduct business all over the island as humans did, and Kul Tiras alone could not support nearly a million Orcs who produced nothing.

The island was too small for herding. They could not do business, nor could they work for wages. What else could they do? Naturally, they could only fight and kill, seizing better and larger territory.
