I loved Azeroth, loved that world that haunted our dreams.

But real life left me unable to play games anymore, unable to keep protecting our Azeroth.

So I wanted to write novels, to write down fantasies I'd once had—novels about what it might be like if I went to that world.

Around 2012, I wrote my first novel on another website. It was called Warcraft: Daylight. I wrote nearly a million words and didn't make a single cent. It was purely a labor of love.

Then I started running around just to make a living, and after that, I never continued pursuing my literary dreams.

But I still loved reading Warcraft fanfiction, imagining myself going to that world for adventures...

Later, there came my second novel—the one you're reading now.

To be honest, when I started Azeroth's New Empire, I was just writing blindly and had no intention of making money. I simply couldn't find any fanfiction worth reading, so I decided to write one myself.

I never expected anyone to read it, so I just kept writing little by little.

However, because I hadn't thought things through at the beginning, although reader retention was decent later on, the results were average.

When it went premium, I remember having more than 3,000 bookmarks and over 400 first subscriptions. It was a complete flop. I updated more than 300,000 words in the first month and earned less than 1,000 yuan.

My job was easy and left me with plenty of free time back then. Though the money was scarce, I kept writing through gritted teeth because I loved it.

That was why I updated so much at the start—an average of 10,000 words a day. The most I ever wrote in one day, if I remember right, was 30,000 words.
