"Jessica, help our new roommate carry down her luggage."
Jessica's face went dark. Using me to play the good guy, huh? Why don't you do it yourself?
Still, she only thought it. If it had been anyone else rather than Richard—even any of her former employers—Jessica would have blown up and refused. But now, she merely shot him an angry look before "enthusiastically" helping Gwen move her luggage.
Once all of Gwen's things had been carried into her room and roughly sorted out, she was settled in. It was about time for dinner, so Richard went into the kitchen to consider the menu. With another person and another mouth to feed, dinner would probably have to be more substantial.
After putting away her things, Gwen appeared in the kitchen doorway and asked hesitantly, "...Mr. Li, are you making dinner?"
"Hm?" Richard turned around from his thoughts. "Yeah. What's up? If there's anything you particularly want to eat, just say so."
"I think I can help." Gwen said. "I know a little about cooking..."
Richard immediately saw the girl in a new light. Then, seemingly casually, he glanced at Jessica.
Look at that. An underage girl knows how to cook, while you're this old and haven't even touched a spatula. Aren't you embarrassed?
Jessica had been standing in the back, happily watching the show, never expecting the fire to suddenly turn on her.
So what if I've never cooked? Do people who can't cook not deserve basic rights?
"No need." Richard waved a hand, declining Gwen's offer.
Gwen thought for a moment, then asked, "Then... Miss Jones said I need to pay for meals too, right?"
"It's fine, it's fine. No need to be so particular about it." Richard waved grandly. "Little details like that don't matter."
Gwen was still a
