It was a snowy night, but there was no mountain god temple.
Even in Ursus, where bitter cold covered every inch of the land, the snowfall had become a little too heavy.
Snowflakes fell with the freezing wind, obscuring vision even more than rain. The windshield wipers moved slower and slower, as though they might snap at any moment.
Night, blizzard, wilderness... with every terrible driving condition stacked together, two convoys raced through the valley as if fleeing for their lives.
The armor plating on the truck ahead was covered in dents and craters, clearly having suffered many collisions earlier on the road.
Yet even so, the driver did not dare slow down.
"Nayin! Don't fall asleep, whatever you do!"
He stared straight ahead, practically lying across the steering wheel.
Even in such a state of tension, his bloodshot eyes kept drifting toward the seat beside him.
"Hang in there! If you fall asleep now, it's over! If something happens to you, the Director will kill me!"
"...I'm not dead yet."
The girl's weak reply slightly eased the driver's expression, but a violent impact immediately rang out from the rear of the vehicle.
The children in the cargo compartment cried out in panic, and the driver slammed his right fist against the dashboard.
"Damn it! They're attacking directly!"
The girl slumped in the passenger seat curled her lips and covered her still-bleeding abdomen.
There was nothing strange about it. Wasn't it perfectly normal for the Infection Patrol to attack the Infected?
They only wanted to capture them alive. Otherwise, they would probably have brought out the artillery already.
She gripped her wound tightly, using pain to force herself awake.
Nayin watched the snow hurtling against the window, her thoughts drifting far away.
What heavy snow. Just like that day...
