I used to have the nickname "Rice Bucket," and I grew up in Kazdel.
Ever since I could remember, Kazdel had always seemed to be at war.
With others, and with itself.
In that kind of environment, becoming a mercenary was perfectly normal. Everyone becoming mercenaries was perfectly normal.
Every day, we rummaged through piles of corpses, then ran to new groups to ask if they needed people. If you found a strong boss, you got to live in peace for a little longer.
Killing, looting, scavenging... Days passed one by one, and the people around me dwindled one by one.
Sometimes, when I had nothing to do, I wondered what the point of a life like this was.
But nobody else seemed to care, so I supposed I didn't need to care either.
After all, I was a Sarkaz.
My old boss got taken out... But it was fine. I found a new boss.
He wasn't very famous, but I heard the Sarkaz in his group had a pretty high survival rate.
Hedley... He actually had a name... And he talked kind of strangely, too.
But after we finished a job, he never withheld my share.
He was a good boss!
His luck was just a little awful...
