Author's Note (Postscript)

The author explains this ends the Hunter x Hunter arc. They acknowledge the Dark Continent portion was difficult to write and felt rushed, but a new idea (traveling to other worlds) gave the story fresh direction. The book (1.15 million words) is not finished — it continues into new worlds.

Ch. 463New World

Plot points and events

  • Leo brings his group of twelve through a gateway into a forested island. Using his ten-kilometer En, he finds a nearby town of ordinary people and no powerful fighters.
  • The group sets out to gather information, carrying gold and jewels that Shizuku produces with Blinky to use as currency.
  • A huge tiger charges out of the woods but flees when Leo releases a trace of killing intent.
  • In town, the group exchanges valuables for local money. The skull-marked Beli banknotes reveal they have arrived in the world of One Piece, on the Grand Line.
  • Leo buys a Log Pose and an Eternal Pose pointing toward the G-9 Marine Branch. He plans to seek out the Six Powers, especially Geppo, which could give his companions a way to fly.
  • Recognizing the date as June 1, 1520, Leo realizes that Ace’s defeat at Banaro Island and the coming Marineford War are near. Intrigued by the opportunity, he decides to head toward the unfolding events.
  • Outside town, Little Azure grows to full size. The group mounts up, and Leo directs it toward the Eternal Pose’s destination.

Character developments and interactions

  • Leo quickly takes charge: he assesses the new world, directs the group to gather information, and forms plans once he identifies their destination.
  • Morel urges caution about the unfamiliar world, while Goreinu finds the forest underwhelming. Hisoka, by contrast, eagerly anticipates finding new opponents.
  • Kastro asks whether humans live there; Leo confirms they are ordinary residents.

  • Preparation and practical planning: The group arrives equipped with trade goods and obtains navigation tools before setting off.

Ch. 464Naval Branch, Acquiring the Six Powers

Key Plot Points

  • Leo arrives at the G-9 Naval Branch on Little Azure, observing the island. He has no interest in joining the Marines or becoming a pirate, viewing the Navy as servants of the Celestial Dragons.
  • He leaves his companions (Kastro and others) waiting on Little Azure and infiltrates the branch unseen, moving past soldiers effortlessly.
  • Leo enters the command room and confronts Vice Admiral Gareth after he finishes a phone call. Gareth attacks, but Leo pins him with invisible “Nen” pressure, knocking him unconscious.
  • Upon waking, Leo offers a deal: the lives of everyone in the branch in exchange for the Navy’s Six Powers techniques.
  • Gareth refuses, enraged. Leo takes him to the roof, demonstrates a devastating glowing sphere of light (implying immense destructive power), and gives Gareth three seconds to decide.
  • Gareth reluctantly agrees before the countdown ends, and Leo dispels the attack, saying, “Good. Then let's begin.”

Character Developments

  • Leo: Confident, pragmatic, and willing to use intimidation and force to achieve his goals. He disdains the Marines and acts freely, showcasing his overwhelming power and casual control over the situation.
  • Gareth: Initially proud and defiant, he refuses to surrender. However, his loyalty to his subordinates ultimately breaks his will, making him yield to Leo’s coercion.

Significant Themes

  • Power and Coercion: Leo’s absolute superiority forces a moral dilemma; Gareth chooses to protect his people over honor.
  • Cynicism Toward the Marines: Leo openly dismisses the Navy as “Celestial Dragons’ lapdogs,” justifying his willingness to blackmail them.
  • Moral Compromise: Gareth’s capitulation highlights the tension between duty and compassion under threat.

Character Interactions

  • Leo & Gareth: A tense, one-sided confrontation where Leo dominates physically and psychologically, slowly breaking Gareth’s resistance through demonstration of power and a deadline.
  • Leo & Companions (brief): Leo orders Kastro and others to wait, showing he operates independently and expects obedience.

Ch. 465The Six Powers and the Arrival of a Giant Ship

After taking the Six Powers from Gareth, Leo taught the techniques to his companions and watched them train on a quiet island. Their practice was interrupted by the arrival of an enormous ship that Leo recognized.

  • Leo left the G-9 branch after forcing Gareth to teach him the Six Powers, and Gareth reported the incident to Sengoku.
  • Sengoku and Tsuru decided to set the incident aside because Marine Headquarters had no troops to spare during its war preparations.
  • Leo demonstrated five of the Six Powers for Sophia, Morel, Kastro, Goreinu, and Hisoka, then guided their training while leaving out Tekkai.
  • The group practiced the basics and prioritized Geppo, often combining it with Soru to improve their speed and maneuverability.
  • Leo sensed an enormous ship approaching the island and recognized it.

  • Leo told Baccarat to take them to Gild Tesoro, and she led the group through the deserted streets.

Ch. 467The Golden Emperor Submits

  • Tesoro attacked with golden ropes, but Hisoka severed them and threw three cards into the floor before him.

  • Baccarat, witnessing the shift in power, silently decides to accept Leo as her new boss.
  • Leo asks about Devil Fruits, and Tesoro reveals three: the Mirror-Mirror Fruit, Ox-Ox Fruit (Rhino Form), and Ancient Zoan Terror Bird Form.
  • Leo claims the Mirror-Mirror Fruit and offers it to his group; after a moment of hesitation, he specifically gives it to Asher, explaining its high compatibility.
  • Asher eats the fruit, immediately suffers from its horrible taste, and everyone laughs when Leo reveals he deliberately didn’t warn him in advance.

Character Developments

  • Tesoro: Transforms from a confident, ruthless boss to a loyal subordinate. His old trauma (Stella, the Celestial Dragons) is the key to his surrender; Leo exploits this to gain a powerful ally.
  • Leo: Shows his strategic side—not just brute force, but psychological manipulation, offering Tesoro revenge in exchange for servitude. Also shows a playful, teasing side with Asher.
  • Baccarat: Quickly adapts to the power shift, choosing pragmatism over loyalty.
  • Asher: Receives a Devil Fruit, marking him as specifically chosen by Leo; he accepts without complaint despite the taste.
  • The Group: Their hesitation not to take the fruit shows mutual respect and deference, letting Leo make the call.

Significant Themes

  • Power and fear: Leo’s display is so overwhelming it breaks Tesoro’s will.
  • Trauma and revenge: Tesoro’s motivation is rooted in past pain; Leo weaponizes that promise of vengeance.
  • Loyalty and submission: Shifting allegiances (Tesoro, Baccarat) and earned trust within Leo’s crew.
  • Found family / chosen roles: Leo deliberately assigns the fruit to the person he believes fits best.

Character Interactions

  • Leo ↔ Tesoro: Intimidation, persuasion, and a pact built on revenge.
  • Baccarat (observing): Silent recalibration of loyalty.
  • Leo ↔ Group: Offers the fruit openly, respects their hesitation, then makes a decisive choice.
  • Asher ↔ Group: Comedic ending—Asher suffers, everyone laughs, Leo delivers the punchline.

Ch. 470Public Announcement: Ace's Origins

Summary

1. Key Plot Points & Events

  • On Sabaody Archipelago, a massive crowd watches a worldwide broadcast of Marineford, where Ace is being prepared for public execution.
  • The Worst Generation Supernovas are present: Kid watches impatiently, Apoo taps rhythms, Hawkins reads cards, Law observes from a rooftop.
  • At Marineford, Sengoku steps forward and silences the Marines. Ace is brought to the execution platform in chains.
  • Sengoku reveals a world-shaking truth: Ace is not the son of Whitebeard, but the son of Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King.
  • He explains Ace’s mother, Portgas D. Rouge, deliberately hid the pregnancy, carrying Ace for twenty months to deceive the world, and died giving birth.
  • Ace defiantly insists that Whitebeard is his only father.
  • The announcement shocks the world: civilians, Marines, and the Warlords all react with disbelief or excitement.
  • Leo, watching from above on Little Azure, privately critiques Whitebeard’s decision to attack Marineford as reckless and sentimental, though he still admires Whitebeard’s unique charisma.

2. Character Developments

  • Ace: Shows quiet resignation, then defiant loyalty. He reveals deep emotional scars when Rouge is mentioned, but stands firm in his identity as Whitebeard’s son.
  • Sengoku: Acts as the authoritative voice of the Marines, strategically using the execution to expose the "tainted bloodline" of the Pirate King.
  • Garp: Struggles emotionally under the execution platform; Tsuru comforts him, saying his pain is not his fault. He laughs to mask his grief.
  • Leo: Highlights a pragmatic, coldly strategic mindset. He views Whitebeard’s choice as foolish but recognizes the old man’s irresistible personal magnetism.
  • Warlords: Each reacts according to their nature — Doflamingo laughs with intrigue, Moria fantasizes about zombifying Ace, Mihawk is stunned, and Hancock questions how Ace connects to Luffy.

3. Significant Themes

  • Bloodline vs. Chosen Family: The world defines Ace by Roger’s blood, but Ace defines himself by Whitebeard’s fatherhood.
  • Sacrifice and Motherhood: Rouge’s twenty-month pregnancy becomes a powerful symbol of maternal love and quiet resistance against the world.
  • Loyalty and Honor: Ace chooses identity and love over survival; Whitebeard’s impending war is driven by emotional bonds, not logic.
  • Public Spectacle and Truth: The execution is a global media event, used to shape political narratives — but its meaning is immediately contested by Ace’s personal defiance.

4. Character Interactions

  • Sengoku & Ace: Sengoku announces Ace’s true parentage; Ace rejects it verbally, creating a direct clash between official history and personal loyalty.
  • Tsuru & Garp: A brief but intimate moment — Tsuru gently tells Garp it wasn’t his fault; Garp responds with forced laughter, showing vulnerability beneath his boisterous mask.
  • Supernovas & Crowd: They serve as audience stand-ins, reacting with excitement, impatience, and calculation to the revelation.
  • Warlords: Their reactions emphasize the political and personal stakes of Ace’s lineage — Doflamingo sees opportunity, Moria sees a toy, Hancock sees Luffy’s brother.
  • Leo (Internal): He observes Whitebeard from a distance, framing the coming war as a tragedy born of misguided loyalty rather than courage.

Ch. 471Whitebeard Appears

As the Navy prepared to execute Ace, Sengoku revealed why Ace’s capture mattered, and Whitebeard’s fleet arrived at Marineford to rescue him. Whitebeard greeted Ace and began his attack on the Navy.

  • Sengoku explained that the Navy had targeted Ace because of his lineage, potential, and Whitebeard’s protection, while Ace said he had joined Whitebeard to make Pops the Pirate King.

  • The combatants looked up as the sky darkened and an immense shadow appeared among the clouds.

Ch. 474Leo's stunning entrance

Leo arrived at Marineford atop Little Azure, an enormous azure dragon, and his entrance brought the ongoing battle to a halt. He and twelve companions surveyed the battlefield as Hisoka reacted with a shrill scream.

  • A massive shadow approached Marineford, causing the fighting to stop as Sengoku, the Admirals, the Warlords, and the Five Elders watched in alarm.

Ch. 475Instantly Killing Doflamingo: The Opening Act

  • Leo caught Doflamingo’s thread attack and killed him instantly by crushing his head.
  • Mihawk, Hancock, Gecko Moria, and Bartholomew Kuma backed away as Sengoku and the others reacted to Doflamingo’s death.
  • Leo summoned a huge golden Nen dragon and sent it diving toward Marineford, where it split into a storm of projectiles.
  • The Nen projectiles caused intense pain that bypassed Haki and Devil Fruit defenses while also healing those they struck.
  • Most Marines and pirates collapsed or convulsed on the ice, while Sengoku, Garp, Whitebeard, the admirals, and a few others remained standing through the pain.

Ch. 476Awakening Conqueror's Haki, three forces collide

After healing nearly two hundred thousand people at Marineford, Leo challenged everyone present and unleashed his nen pressure. Sengoku and Whitebeard answered with Conqueror’s Haki, and Leo awakened his own under their combined pressure, forcing their wills back as Kizaru moved to intervene.

  • Leo restored the battlefield’s wounded, leaving only those with severed limbs unrecovered, and told Sengoku that his introduction was over.
  • Leo gave everyone five minutes to defeat him or die, then overwhelmed most of the soldiers and pirates with nen pressure.
  • Sengoku and Whitebeard released their Conqueror’s Haki together and pressed Leo with their combined wills.
  • Leo withdrew his nen pressure to experience their Haki, then awakened his own and drove their wills back.
  • Kizaru left his seat as he and Akainu watched Leo’s newly awakened Conqueror’s Haki.

Ch. 477Leo versus the three Marine admirals

  • Leo unleashed his Conqueror’s Haki and Nen Pressure, knocking out struggling fighters and forcing Sengoku and Whitebeard to endure his overwhelming presence.
  • Akainu and Aokiji attacked Leo together, but he destroyed their attacks with blasts of air, grabbed their heads, and slammed them into the ice.
  • Akainu and Aokiji’s follow-up strikes failed to harm Leo’s Ken, and Leo concluded that he would need Armament Haki to grab Logia users in their elemental forms.
  • Kizaru rejoined Akainu and Aokiji, while Sengoku kept watch over Ace and Whitebeard watched the admirals regroup.

Ch. 478Leo against five

Leo activated Final Moment and overwhelmed Whitebeard, Garp, and Tsuru before leading the admirals away from Marineford’s main battlefield. As his companions joined the recovering fighters, Hisoka challenged Mihawk, while Sengoku questioned the newcomers and began to suspect they came from another world.

  • Leo activated Final Moment, boosted his agility and defense, and struck Whitebeard and Garp so quickly that neither could react in time.
  • Leo knocked Tsuru unconscious, then told the three admirals to follow him away from the battlefield to avoid killing the fallen Marines and pirates.
  • Kuzan froze the sea beyond the bay, and Leo, Whitebeard, Garp, and the admirals headed out toward the open sea.
  • Morel, Sophia, Kastro, Goreinu, Knuckle, and the others descended onto the ice as the vice admirals and Whitebeard Pirates' commanders began recovering.
  • Hisoka attacked Dracule Mihawk with playing cards, but Mihawk cut them apart and refused to fight someone who was not a swordsman.
  • Sengoku questioned the gathered newcomers, and Kastro's reference to “this world” made Sengoku suspect they came from somewhere else.

Ch. 479One against five, with ease

Leo fought Whitebeard, Garp, Kizaru, Akainu, and Aokiji on the ice, withstanding their attacks and overpowering them when he struck back. The battle continued as the pirates and Marines watched from a distance, unable to help.

  • Kizaru attacked Leo with a light sword, but the blade shattered against Leo’s neck and Leo sent him flying with a counterattack.
  • Akainu, Aokiji, Garp, and Whitebeard joined the assault, but their strongest attacks failed to injure Leo.
  • Leo declared it was his turn, struck Whitebeard and Garp, crushed Akainu’s magma fist, and evaded attacks from Aokiji and Kizaru.
  • Garp met Leo’s Nen-coated Ko with Fist Bone: Impact, but Leo overpowered him and blasted him across the ice.

  • Leo activated Conversion to raise his agility to 100% and announced that the fight was nearly over.
  • Leo struck Akainu in the head, sending him through several Navy warships and into the bay’s defensive wall.
  • Leo vanished and appeared before Aokiji, telling him it was his turn.
