Just as Dalaran had been able to detect Kel'Thuzad's summoning ritual,
when all of Dalaran's mana furnaces simultaneously unleashed immense energy to activate the anti-gravity system, the Scourge also detected that enormous surge of magical power.
However, unlike the former, the demons could not possibly determine what Dalaran's mages were doing based on the mana flow alone.
The only thing they could be certain of was that whatever they were doing had to be earth-shattering.
"Lord Archimonde, in the face of the Legion's arrival, those insignificant mages seem to be planning some form of resistance." At the Defiler's side, the dreadlord Tichondrius offered an uneasy warning.
"I feel that power." Archimonde's voice rumbled like thunder. "These insignificant mages do possess some courage, and the power of their resistance cannot be underestimated. But their efforts are destined to be futile, because I will destroy them, along with the city they rely upon for protection!"
His gaze crossed dozens of miles to settle upon Dalaran, as though he were looking at ruins already reduced to rubble.
At that moment, everyone in Dalaran felt as if some dangerous thing had fixed its eyes upon them.
The more powerful the mage, the more pronounced that feeling became.
Only after the Defiler withdrew his gaze did the sensation vanish.
"What was that just now?" Kael'thas could not help saying. "It came out of nowhere, like something huge is about to happen..."
