The moment Ye Ting stepped onto the pitch, screams and cheers rang out from all around him.
Most of them came from the girls who had rushed over after hearing the news to cheer him on. Although they did not think Ye Ting would win, they still gave him their fullest support.
Though Ye Ting's mental age was mature enough that he was somewhat indifferent to this kind of school-heartthrob treatment, deep down, he still felt a little pleased and slightly touched by their support.
He waved to the crowd, and the cheers immediately grew louder.
On the training field, Roger walked toward Ye Ting at the sidelines, carrying two brooms.
He tossed one of them to Ye Ting and asked, "How is it? Are you ready? Do you need some time to warm up?"
Ye Ting shook his head. "No need. Let's start the match now."
"Alright, then the match starts now. I'll let you attack first, so don't say I'm bullying you later." Roger sounded rather proud. He mounted his broom, casually picked one set of hoops as his half of the field, and flew over.
The players practicing nearby also stopped one after another. One of the Chasers threw the Quaffle to Ye Ting.
Ye Ting caught it casually, gripping the ball firmly without showing any weakness.
The players headed off the field one by one, greeting Ye Ting amicably as they passed him.
When it was Cho Chang's turn, she jogged up to Ye Ting in front of everyone, blushing as she leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Good luck. You'll definitely win."
Then she ran away shyly. Her slightly immature charm made Ye Ting's heart stir faintly.
He seriously suspected that he might turn into a lolicon under the repeated temptations of these little witches.
Clearing the distracting thoughts from his mind, Ye Ting carried the Quaffle in one hand and mounted his broom, flying to the hoops on the other side.
He first flew around twice, getting somewhat familiar with the unfamiliar flying broom beneath him.
Like the one Roger rode, it was a slightly old Cleansweep Five. Compared with the Nimbus 2000, the Cleansweep Five was not particularly fast, but it had an excellent braking system. In other words, it excelled at controlling speed and direction.
Ye Ting quickly became familiar with its performance.
Then he nodded to the referee who had been waiting nearby.
The referee was another Chaser on the team, and he loudly announced the start of the match.
The two flew on their brooms, circling before the hoops on opposite sides and watching each other from afar.
To Roger, Ye Ting seemed far too calm at that moment—calm to an abnormal degree.
He had assumed that, on his first time on a Quidditch pitch, Ye Ting would be as nervous and helpless as any other newcomer, exposing weaknesses that would let him win easily.
Yet the person before him completely exceeded his expectations. Not only was Ye Ting not flustered, he calmly circled in front of the hoops with the Quaffle in hand, constantly changing direction and assuming a posture ready to accelerate at any moment, as if he could launch an attack at any time.
But the broom's constantly shifting flight path made it impossible for Roger to judge where Ye Ting would set off from or which direction he would take, leaving him unable to make an immediate interception.
He does have some skill. He really is worthy of being called a genius.
Roger thought so, yet he still believed that he could easily win through experience and technique.
But in the next moment, before he could react, Ye Ting suddenly burst forward.
Ye Ting, who had been slowly circling all this time, instantly turned into a streak of lightning. At a strange angle, he shot toward the hoops behind Roger.
With Roger's experience, he could tell just how immense the pressure of Ye Ting's instantaneous acceleration would be, along with the centrifugal force of such a rapid turn. These were things ordinary young wizards simply could not endure.
What an outrageously powerful genius. Not only in magic—even his athletic talent is unmatched.
He hurriedly pulled on his broom handle, turning and accelerating in haste as he tried to intercept Ye Ting midway.
But it was already too late. Roger could only watch as Ye Ting whistled past above and to his left, charged into his scoring area, and tossed the Quaffle into the hoops from virtually point-blank range.
1:0
When the player acting as referee announced the score, even he could not believe it.
A newcomer who had never played Quidditch before and was riding a flying broom for only the second time had actually scored first against their captain.
Were newcomers this strong nowadays?
He was beginning to question his life.
In the stands below, after a second of silence, all the girls erupted into loud cheers.
Their idol, Ye Ting, had indeed not let them down. He had truly scored against the captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team.
With this opening, even if Ye Ting ultimately lost, he would still have lost with honor.
That one point alone was enough to prove his talent.
Among them, Hermione and Penelope were especially excited. Even Penelope, who was usually composed and aloof, was flushed red as she shouted Ye Ting's name like a little fangirl.
Ye Ting's performance had been so dazzling that the two of them felt honored as well.
