The discussion about Nicolas Flamel ended with the four of them parting on bad terms. However, Ron and Harry soon sought Ye Ting out again, hoping he would come watch the match on the day of the game.
"Please help us," Ron pleaded, his face flushed red. "Harry's about to play in a Quidditch match. Snape applied to be the referee this time—he did it on purpose, just so he could kill Harry. Only you can deal with him. You did it last time."
"How many times do I have to say it? Snape would never hurt Harry." Ye Ting waved a hand impatiently. "Snape has been a professor at Hogwarts for many years. Dumbledore wouldn't let a dangerous person remain at Hogwarts for so long."
He strode away, leaving Ron and Harry disappointed.
"He did it on purpose."
Suddenly, Ron said sharply, "He's wary of you, Harry."
"He's... wary of me?"
Harry stared at Ron in confusion.
"What would he be wary of?"
"He's wary of your Quidditch skills." Ron grew more excited as he spoke.
"He led the Ravenclaw team to two straight victories, and Gryffindor is the only team left in their way. You and he are both prodigies who joined your House teams in your first year. Your Quidditch skills are Gryffindor's key to victory, so he's wary of you."
"He... wouldn't think that way, would he?"
Harry looked at Ron skeptically, but deep down, he somewhat agreed. If that were true, it would mean that Ye Ting, Ravenclaw's "Quidditch rising star," considered him a formidable opponent.
"He wants Snape to kill you during the Quidditch match—or at least break your legs."
Ron shouted, "That way, you won't be a threat to him anymore."
"No, I don't believe he'd do that. He's a good person."
