"Ata'mal Crystal, a gift the Naaru once gave us—I now return it to you." He said this to K'ara. "Its power can strengthen the mind and soul. If it is you, you should be able to bring the power of Soul Song to its fullest, shouldn't you?"
His judgment was correct. K'ara's psychic link was itself an ability based on the mind and soul.
As an amplifier of soul power, with Soul Song, K'ara could at least strengthen her psychic-link abilities three or fourfold, perhaps even more.
But before she could make a move, the bishops around her began voicing their objections.
"Lord Velen, why are you doing this?" Neri asked.
"Lord Velen, are you abandoning us? Why are you giving away this crystal?" Akama looked somewhat sorrowful.
Even Maladaar and Hataaru tried to dissuade him. "Soul Song has always been a symbol of the Prophet's status. It has never been given to anyone else. Is the Prophet truly planning to leave us behind?"
Faced with his subordinates' pleas and objections, Velen did not answer directly.
He closed his eyes and pondered for a moment before finally speaking.
"On Argus, back when we still called ourselves Eredar, the Naaru bestowed an Ata'mal Crystal upon us. With its power, we created a glorious civilization."
Half reminiscing and half explaining, Velen spoke leisurely, almost as if talking to himself.
"I led our people for thirty thousand years. Throughout all that time, the Ata'mal Crystal was my greatest aid. Not a day passed without fear weighing on me. I must admit, I am tired. Yet the threat of the Burning Legion has never vanished, and I could never allow myself to relax.
"But now, the Draenei have finally found a ruler better than me.
"Yrel, that child, has done wonderfully. Her new faith
