Inside the command room of the Eagle Country Seventh Fleet's aircraft carrier Nimitz, Fleet Commander Damon was swearing furiously over the communications channel:
"Damn it! Which bastard fired the laser beam? Shut it off! Now! Do you idiots want to become sinners against humanity!?"
He was no madman. Even though humanity possessed formidable military strength, no one knew what might happen when facing an otherworldly beast of completely unknown origin.
Although it appeared that the spatial wormhole could not yet be crossed and the two sides could only see one another, he had no intention of doing something so universally condemned as provoking the monster.
Otherwise, even those military-industrial consortium people back home who were desperate to sell weapons would skin him alive in Congress, and the one in the White Palace who knew everything would definitely bombard him with tweets!
This was a global live broadcast!
Following Damon's roar, in the Eagle Country fleet's unmanned submersible control room, Major Rake kicked one of his subordinates off the console. Roaring, he lunged at the controls and hit the button to shut off the laser beam, then turned and shouted a reprimand:
"Labu, are you trying to get us all killed!? Who told you to fire the beam!? Your actions have already violated military law. Just wait for your court-martial!"
Everything had been fine just moments ago. He had strictly ordered the unmanned submersible operators in his squad to be careful and cautious, even having the submersibles retreat slightly.
He had never expected the submersible controlled by Labu to suddenly fire a laser beam at the eye on the other side of the spatial wormhole.
Though it was merely a laser beam with no real destructive power, one only capable of intimidation and dispersal, it still left Rake drenched in sweat.
