No One Wanted Another Eight Hundred Years! (Thanks to the Book's Second Alliance Patron, Capital's Nine Gates)
The next day.
Zhong Ling covered her mouth as she yawned her way onto the deck. She saw Jiang Ning bathed in the morning sun, sweat dripping from his body.
Sensing her arrival, Jiang Ning stopped practicing.
He reached for the clothes hanging nearby, threw them on, and dressed quickly.
"Brother Jiang Ning, didn't you sleep last night?" Zhong Ling froze.
She remembered waking late last night to find Jiang Ning sitting on the deck, eyes closed in contemplation.
Now that she was awake again, she found him practicing on the deck, his sweat soaking the boards.
"You took my room. Where was I supposed to sleep?" Jiang Ning looked at her speechlessly.
He finished dressing as he spoke.
Before, with no women aboard, practicing bare-chested had not mattered.
Now that Zhong Ling was awake, it was no longer appropriate.
"Did I take your room last night?" Zhong Ling opened her mouth, then mumbled uncertainly.
Thinking back, she realized the corridor outside her room had looked a little different.
"Mm." Jiang Ning nodded. "Tell your Grandpa Xuan I've gone to practice in the lake."
With that, he leaped overboard and vanished beneath the waves with a splash.
Zhong Ling stared for a moment, then pursed her lips.
Yang Lake.
The moment Jiang Ning entered the lake, he felt the undercurrents surging.
Below the surface, the water flowed even faster.
He adjusted his position and steadied himself.
Then he saw iron chains stretching through the water as though they connected heaven and earth.
One end reached toward the surface; the other descended into the dark, unfathomable depths.
Yang Lake is deep! Seeing only blackness below, Jiang Ning felt a flicker of surprise.
He began to sink.
Surrounded by lake water, he rapidly recovered from the exertion of practicing Indestructible Vajra Body.
