Background

Xu Yinyin was one of seven Stellar Crown Academy students sent from Skywatch City to welcome Tianyuan City's incoming students. She had been specially admitted to the academy because of her rare S-rank mental talent. 21 22 42

During the journey, her classmate Lin Yueming colluded with Blood Cat assassins and murdered their companions. He tried to coerce Xu Yinyin into becoming his lifelong dependent through his Emperor's Oath talent, using the surviving Huang Yi as leverage. Xu Yinyin refused despite the threat, declaring that she would rather die than submit. 19

Jiang Chuan intervened, defeated the assassins, and left Lin Yueming for Xu Yinyin to judge. Overcome by grief for her murdered classmates, she killed Lin Yueming with her shortsword. She then remained with Jiang Chuan to tend to Huang Yi, whose severed arm and blood loss left him in critical condition. 20 21

While cremating the dead, Xu Yinyin accidentally made contact with Jiang Chuan and perceived enough of his thoughts to discover that he was concealing a dangerous secret. Terrified, she tried to flee when Jiang Chuan confronted her; afterward, she became bound to him through Emperor's Oath. 22 23

After the contract, Xu Yinyin used her academy connections and understanding of Tianyuan City's political arrangements to investigate Stellar Crown Academy admission slots. She warned Jiang Chuan that the supposedly open tournament slot had already been arranged for Su Yao and advised him on how to approach Ling Aoshuang. 31

At the Martial Arts Tournament, Xu Yinyin publicly identified an oath as the means to counter the Heavenly Dao punishment threatening Ling Aoshuang, allowing Jiang Chuan to save her through Emperor's Oath. 34

The massacre leaves her emotionally shaken and prone to fear after discovering Jiang Chuan's secret. However, she gradually regains her composure, shares information about the Lin Family and Stellar Crown Academy, and becomes a practical source of advice for Jiang Chuan. 21 22 31
