Su Xing reversed his grip on the Black Sword,
then slashed straight ahead!
Boom!
Boom!
Terrifying force tore through the air in an instant. Amid two consecutive sonic booms, rings upon rings of transparent ripples visible to the naked eye spread outward. The still air suddenly churned violently like a boiling lake, only gradually returning to calm after an unknown amount of time.
"So strong."
Su Xing murmured,
a hint of surprise in his voice.
He knew very well... he had not used any sword skill at all. This was merely the most ordinary slash, yet it had caused such a tremendous disturbance.
If Su Xing had to face those peak third-tier priests again, even the most ordinary slash would probably be enough to kill every last one of them.
Su Xing had that confidence.
At the thought, an excited smile appeared at the corner of Su Xing's lips.
Who could possibly resist the thrill brought by one increase in strength after another?
Su Xing suppressed the excitement in his heart.
He still needed to test his other two sword skills: "Myriad Swords Return to the Origin" and "White-Blade Stance."
Su Xing stood atop the hill, the Black Sword held horizontally at his side. One white streak after another abruptly gathered behind him—thousands upon thousands of them. The naked eye could not distinguish them individually; they were packed so densely that they made one's eyes ache.
Before long, the white streaks began to intertwine and twist around one another, gradually forming five enormous white swords that floated silently behind Su Xing.
One became five.
Though it was still far from ten thousand swords.
It was still a fivefold increase!
Su Xing nodded in satisfaction. Then, with a wave of his right hand, the five swords abruptly vanished. At the same time, a solid White Blade emerged along the edge of the Black Sword in his hand.
The White Blade had previously flickered in and out of sight, visible one moment and gone the next. But now, it was like a bright full moon hanging directly before the sword's edge—solid and radiant.
Whenever Su Xing brought the sword edge close to his skin, he could feel waves of chill, as though his flesh would be torn apart out of thin air the next second.
Su Xing was a little curious.
Just what level was his combat strength at now?
His sword skills had yet to break through to the fourth tier, but he had long since become invincible among the third tier. Now that Mortal Sword had risen three more levels in a row, he should possess fourth-tier combat strength as well.
Just as Su Xing was thinking about this, the phone in his pocket suddenly began ringing. He picked it up, dismissed the alarm, and saw a message Su Yu had sent several minutes earlier.
"Bro, I'm getting discharged. Come help me pack up?"
"Discharged?"
Su Xing looked at the message in surprise. He had not expected Su Yu to recover so quickly, but after thinking it over, it made sense. His little brother was a Sequence User, after all. He would recover faster than an ordinary person no matter what. So Su Xing replied:
"Sure. Wait for me."
"OK."
After seeing Su Yu's reply, Su Xing hailed a cab and headed for the hospital.
This driver was not the previous one. He was tall and thin. After confirming the last four digits of Su Xing's phone number, he did not say another word, quietly driving Su Xing all the way to the hospital entrance.
After getting out of the car,
Su Xing had intended to go straight to Su Yu, but the moment his right foot stepped forward, he seemed to catch a whiff of something utterly disgusting. His brows furrowed, and after taking a while to recover, he finally said:
"What a pungent corpse stench."
The smell was very faint, yet incredibly piercing. It even seemed to carry traces of Sequence Energy.
The ordinary people passing by around Su Xing showed no reaction. Clearly, none of them could smell the strange corpse stench.
Could the Spirit Cult be stirring up trouble again?
Su Xing sniffed again and confirmed that he had not been mistaken. After determining the direction from which the stench was coming, he took out his phone and sent Su Yu a text: "Found something. I'll be a little late." Then he headed directly toward the smell.
In an alley not far from the hospital.
A man whose body was somewhat moldy and decayed stood there in a crooked posture.
He wore Spirit Cult robes, his right hand braced against the wall. His rotten body seemed to possess intense corrosiveness. After touching the wall for only a short while, wisps of white smoke began rising from it, carrying an extremely pungent odor.
Seeing the white smoke rise, he seemed still unaccustomed to this body. He hurriedly pulled his hand away and spoke in a shrill voice like two stones grinding together:
"A fourth-tier Sequence... I'm really not used to it yet."
"Hm?"
His eyes turned toward the hospital entrance, where he saw Su Xing get out of a car. He said viciously, "That person... seems to be Su Yu's older brother, doesn't he?"
"Hehe. Since he's delivered himself right to my door, I'll kill him first!"
Upon seeing Su Xing, the decayed skin on the man's face twitched a few times before falling away in sparse flakes like fragments, exposing the blackish-red flesh beneath. Pale green Sequence Energy slowly appeared around him, carrying an indescribably cold and bizarre aura.
At that moment, the man was like a cobra lying in wait that had suddenly spotted its prey, swiftly entering hunting mode.
His eyeballs rolled rapidly up and down twice before fixing on Su Xing as he slowly approached in his direction.
"Stronger than the Spirit Cult priests."
The instant the man's gaze fell upon him, Su Xing immediately felt as though he had been targeted by a venomous snake.
Goosebumps rose all over his body at once, only to quickly fade away. He then immediately spotted the man hiding in the alley.
Half the man's head was exposed outside the alley, and a disdainful smile curled across his lips, brimming with aggression.
Their gazes collided in an instant, then swiftly passed one another. Su Xing lowered his head and blended into the crowd before breaking into a light run.
The terrain here was too open, and there were too many ordinary people. It was not suitable for combat.
Su Xing knew that the guy had already set his sights on him. There was no need to seek him out now—the man would come to him. Su Xing only needed to find a place where he could fight properly and wait for the battle to begin.
The moment Su Xing moved, the man pulled the white hood at the back of his Spirit Cult robe over his face. He then took a fierce step forward, shooting off like an arrow released from a bow. A ring of air burst beneath his foot as he charged wildly in the direction Su Xing had run.
"Are you fucking blind?!"
A middle-aged man heading toward the hospital was walking while looking at his phone when he suddenly heard a gust howling behind him. He instinctively jumped forward, thinking a car had run a red light and nearly hit him.
His face immediately darkened. He turned around to curse, only to discover that it was not a car running a red light at all.
It was a person.
What the hell?!
Hearing that someone actually dared to curse at him, the decayed man pursuing Su Xing wore a savage smile and sneered:
"Old bastard, keep your mouth clean in your next life."
Before the middle-aged man could react, he grabbed the man's head and sprinted forward. The man's neck stretched like taffy before being torn off together with his entire cervical spine!
Blood instantly sprayed out, splashing the entire street crimson.
The sudden change left many people frozen at first, before they erupted into heart-wrenching screams. The crowd immediately descended into chaos, scattering in panic amid shrieks.
Some timid people's legs gave out beneath them, and they collapsed to the ground, staring in disbelief at the headless middle-aged man lying in the middle of the road, blood still gushing from his body.
"Fuck!"
Su Xing roared in fury. He had not expected a member of the Spirit Cult to kill someone so openly in public. This was completely unlike their usual covert methods!
This would definitely draw the attention of the special organization. He had to kill this guy quickly!
Amid the chaos, Su Xing unleashed all his strength as well. His right foot stomped the ground, instantly blasting out a huge crater.
His entire body turned into a streak of white light and shot into an alley beside him. Less than two breaths after Su Xing entered the alley, the man caught up and rushed in after him. Moving too fast, he instantly sent a roadside trash can flying into the air before it slammed heavily back onto the ground.
As the trash can hit the ground,
Su Xing and this guy finally stood face-to-face for the first time. The man seemed somewhat surprised as he looked at Su Xing, a smile playing across his lips as he said:
"From that kick just now... you're the mysterious expert, aren't you?"
Su Xing narrowed his eyes without giving anything away. He flipped his right hand over, and faint black motes gathered in his palm. A Black Sword abruptly condensed, radiating a chilling aura as he replied coldly:
"So what?"
"Sigh. Before I received this Sequence from the High Priest, I was nothing more than a minor assistant priest. No one even knew my name. Yet your title of mysterious expert is renowned far and wide. Almost everyone in the Spirit Cult has heard of you. It makes me terribly jealous."
"Now, allow me to introduce myself. I am the Corpse Assistant Priest, a newly advanced fourth-tier Sequence User—and naturally, the one who will take your life!"
The instant he finished speaking, the Corpse Assistant Priest kicked up a nearby trash can and sent it hurtling toward Su Xing. All sorts of garbage flew wildly through the air, and a powerful stench spread between them.
Yet the Corpse Assistant Priest seemed not to smell it at all. Taking advantage of the trash obscuring Su Xing's vision, he turned his right hand into a blade and slashed directly toward where Su Xing had been standing!
His palm was coated in intensely corrosive Sequence Energy, and wisps of white smoke rose even from the air.
A faint, strange bubbling sound could be heard, like sulfuric acid dripping onto wood—hiss, hiss, hiss—enough to make one's skin crawl.
"Die!"
